TheFeed's Jake Gaskill got his eyes on Prey 2 recently, and while the sequel is a first-person shooter like its namesake, that's where the similarities end. Prey 2 is more like a re-imagining. Here's how Gaskill puts it in his first-look preview of Prey 2:
"Luckily (or perhaps troublingly, if you were a diehard Prey fan), Prey 2 bears practically zero resemblance to the previous game, so if you're a newcomer like me, you can rest easy knowing you'll be able to hit the ground running without feeling totally lost. In fact, aside from the story, which Humanhead was super cagey about during Bethesda’s BFG 2011 press event last week, Prey 2 could easily be called “Insert Made Up Name Here” and no one would have been the wiser."

Yeah I was excited initially hearing that Prey was getting a sequel but then as more and more details dropped I said so how the hell is this Prey's sequel?! Meh, I'll wait for reviews or when it's 40 bucks.

What about the gameplay mechanics?
Do you still get to use spirit form to solve puzzles.
Are there still cool gravity shifts?
What are some of the old mechanics that have transitioned over, and what are some of the new ones?

So like Far Cry 2, a new modern game for the sake of being modern and not continuing an old formula (e.g., the dreaded "linear" model). Cool, I hope! Though looks like Prey is wanting to at least look like Mass Effect now.
