Mass Effect's shooting element has evolved from ME1 to ME2 and it looks like BioWare has enlisted the help of Battlefield developer DICE for Mass Effect 3. The details come from the latest issue of CHIEF, a gaming magazine from Belgium. DICE is working specifically on the guns of ME, focusing on the details of bullets in space. DICE took into account the distance a bullet can travel, the sound it makes and the environments it is fired in to. Both developers are under the wing of EA so it makes sense that they'd work together from time to time.
Do you think DICE will improve ME3's combat?

DICE aren't working on anything in ME3. They simply gave Bioware a chatty advice, that's all.

Let's just hope DICE don't end up doing a Medal of Honor:Tier 1 and create an utterly useless broken system just to fill space. If they approach it properly it could lead to some very good results.

This could be the way of developing a Mass Effect multiplayer engine based on Battlefield 3. Keep the main game this way, but let the returning kings of FPS online play develope the mulitplayer aspects with balancing of guns and kits.

Brillant, both are excellent at what they do.

So, what your saying is that the Company who is amazing at making FPS', but couldn't make a decent Story or AI if there lives depended on it, are teaming up with the Company who is amazing at making Stories and smart AI, but couldn't make a decent FPS if there lives depended on it?
Wait, wasn't this one of the signs of the Apocalypse?

I loved Mass Effect 2 to death. Battlefield 3 trailer looks intense, if they're working on the guns of Mass Effect 3, I think we'll have a new best game of all time to dethrown ocarina of time. http://www.gamerankings.com/br owse.html

They need to bring back cooling systems. Make it a hybrid of Thermal Clips and Infinite Ammo like ME1.
Make it like the Flashlights in Alan Wake.

Not surprised with this. Bioware have been looking to attract the FPS fans since being acquired by EA than making actual RPGs like they used to. Oh well, at least there's CD Projekt with Witcher 2 who can make actual great RPGs.

I wish they would bring back the infinite ammo thing from the ME1.

This gives me an e-wang stiffy =D

That's cool of them to help each other out. Sony dev's help each other on tech, and now EA's guys are helping. Good stuff.

as long as more weapons are created and they're bad ass I'm happy. DICE + BioWare = Team of Destruction

As long as DICE stays in the sounds and graphics of the guns, I'm fine. I love Mass Effect, and I love Battlefield, but I want them to stay apart.
Esspytood
a manly combining of developers!

The shooting does need work but on the other hand I hope us PS3 owners get free DLC again.
