Whatever is going on over at the PlayStation Network seems pretty serious. The company just revealed, via a blog post, that the PlayStation Network may be down for a day or two. Here's the post, from the company's U.S. blog:
"While we are investigating the cause of the Network outage, we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running. Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we’ll update you again as soon as we can."
Sony previously commented that the apparently worldwide network outage may be more than a simple technical error, saying that they are looking into "the possibility of targeted behaviour by an outside party."
More news as it develops...oh, and sorry, PlayStation 3 users.

This is the reason I wish splitscreen and other local multiplayer/long single-player games were available. 20 years from now, when I want to go back and play PS3 for some reason, there will be no PSN servers that still cater to it, and all I will have is single player and local multiplayer. I don't particularly like the notion of Cloud Gaming either!

Yeah it sucked while I was Playing Mortal Kombat with a buddy of mine who is the Navy. If out any warning it frozed the game and got kicked offline. That sucked big time and that is one big reason why i have more offline games vs online. I hope Sony will fixed this mess soon enough and the game was a early Birthday Present for me.

Personally, I find it hilarious that if anyone is able to hack into their servers and do something to this effect, Sony needs to up their security or do something about it. Anonymous isn't nearly organized enough for a DDoS of this scale, so I seriously hope they know exactly what happened.

If this is a targeted affair...that's pretty messed up. All this hacking and interruption of the PSN will only make SONY angry and cause a lot of unnecessary security implementations on future consoles.
