Happy Portal Day everyone! Yes, one of the most anticipated titles of the year is finally on store shelves and according to the reviews it does not disappoint. Adam is loving every minute of Portal 2, and is not only impressed by its writing and comedy but also by its genius construction of puzzles. So if you could stop testing just for a moment and put down the controller, The Sess has something to say about everyone's favorite first-person puzzle game, Portal 2.

I gotta disagree. My experience with Portal 2 was often that I wanted to pull away from some of the more complex puzzles and move on to an action sequence (the game does have those) where the story would quickly progress. I think Portal 2's larger size works against it. It starts slow with GLaDOS gone in the beginning, and it gets drawn out towards the end. The hardest puzzles are ultimately divided up into smaller sections that players have to solve in succession before stringing it all together for one giant solution, so you really get a sense of being "pulled" into how the developers are thinking. Its a GREAT game, but more so because it rounds out the experience of the original Portal and puts a nice stamp on the possibilities within the game mechanics, as well as the story of the series. I found it amusing how these two elements tie into each other for the grand finale, but I'll say no more.

Puzzles prove nothing except that you think about things in the same way as the person who made the puzzle. They don't prove you are smart they prove you are intellectually conformist.

I cannot wait for the SDK for this one, there is so much potential available for community created content.

I like puzzles. I like the intellectual challenge of them. But I would have to say the Subject 16 clusters in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood left me feeling a little dumb sometimes. I understand trying to incorporate some intelligence into a game, but Brotherhood seemed especially difficult compared to AC2's. Sometimes the hint's were just as vague as the riddles themselves. Someone's probably going to call me dumb for this. :/
My roommate has the Orange Box so I'll probably be playing Portal while he's knocking through Portal 2. I've yet to experience the awesomeness, and after reading Morgan's review I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

My thoughts exactly, I would say I am about 2/3 of my way through the game and I have loved every puzzle. Its not like Assassins Creed in which I could barely figure out those art puzzles without a Google search. God I love Portal.

Another excellent Soapbox. Great points and well said. The only thing I found wrong about this Soapbox was the fact I wasn't in the room playing Portal 2.

Seeing this just made my wait for Portal 2 to show up that more painful.
