Gears of War 3's beta is opened to even more people today. Some of the G4TV staff got their hands on beta a few days early and had a lot to say about the game. Before you jump in make sure to read our Gears 3 Beta Unlockable Guide and our Gears 3 Beta FAQ. Our Editorial Director Eric Eckstein had this to say about the Gears 3 beta:
"I dig the Gears series, but I've rarely had a good time playing online except for Horde mode. So getting in early on the Gears of War 3 beta is appealing to me as I'll never see my name in the top 200 public leaderboards ever again. I had a blast re-learning GoW again, bayonet charging fools and unleashing Mortars on my enemies. Ribbon and medal rewards flow like water, and I barely know how or what I'm earning, but you'll gain something on every map whether you win, lose, or get totally hosed in the process. It's simple and purely cosmetic, but I like that kind of positive reinforcement."

@M6000 Actually, there is a smll amount of rage quitters (from my experience), and i used to dislike gears mulitiplayer as well, but Gears 3 feels refreshed. I never had that much fun getting pwned for 5 hours. The thing that keeps me coming back is the very satisfied feeling with each kill that no other game can give you. Try it for 1 hour and then make judgements.

cliff b. should ba ashamed for calling this gears 3 the most polished game they have put out.
the game play/graphics are fine.
but you can never get in games with your party , the nat restriction issues, the lag dedicated servers are not up,and the game doesn't work with link sys routers well , i'm hopefull it will be fixed.
but cliff should of saved his comment for september

Also my best moment so far was a triple kill with the Sawed-off shotgun. Most satisfying feeling in gaming for a while.

It's amazing and suprisingly balanced for the beta. It brings back GREAT Gears 1 memories.

Got my beta code from Microsoft at work when the early beta started. It's okay. Too many people use the shottys and it's annoying.

I played maybe 30 minutes of it before I had to leave for work this morning. From what I've played so far, the game is amazing. Way more people playing the early beta then I expected, so it's safe to say Epic's plan to release beta keys with Bulletstorm was a success. The gameplay was so fast and smooth I forgot I was even playing multiplayer. Good Job Epic, looking forward to September 20th!!

40,000 people that work at Gamestop & Bestbuy got the codes. And the uncounted Press and family/friends. And if you read what I said earlier you would have saw that there is no need for them to be playing 3 days ahead because even if they were going to sell it anyone they can't play it until the 25th. So what you're saying is that they need 10 days to be familar with a game? Rofl no they don't. It just goes to show Epic is more concerned about selling their game more than appeasing their fans. Oh and I am pretty sure if you were a gearhead than you would have preordered Gears 3 to play the beta. And its more like die hard Epic fans should play before everyone else thats why we bought Bulletstorm and can play before you.

will you guys shut up about others getting early access 3 days before bulletstorm? no you are not gettin screwed over. Yes im a gearhead, stuck to the multiplayer ever since it started despite the flaws in the games and i too have been dying to play the beta. But those were a few employees from electronics store which get to see the game they are going to sell and experience it and it wasn't like it was every employee. It was only family members and a few others but that is it. It was not like you guys had any right to be early in the beta just because you are die hard fans, if so then every gearhead would be entitled to play early. so shut up and be glad that there is going to be beta this time around.

@fuji obviously I am a Epic Fan which means I love Gears of War. I care because I am dying to play the Beta ever since I heard they were going to have one. Even before I knew there was going to be tied in with Bulletstorm game. So I have been waiting for this Beta in anticipation for a long time now. To find out that I get to play before everyone because I supported Bullestorm I was like hell yes that is right! It made sense that Epic was supporting their loyal fans with early access. But than to just turn around and give a bunch of random employees access 3 days before us loyal fans is just crap. They don't deserve to play the beta before us.

I've always hated Gears online it just really sucked to me I hope Gears 3 can change my mind but it doesn't look like it will I just heard that there including team death match(finally)but there making it different instead of two teams competing to see who can make it to 50 kills the first there making it were each team has a limited number of lives and the last man standing wins. That to me me sounds dumb as hell. I can't even begin to tell you all the problems that will come out of that mode but the biggest problem will be rage quitters no one is going to want to sit there and watch because they ran out of spawns thats just boring. hopefully they realize this and decide to include a more traditional form of team death match.

Yeah so when I found out they were giving away free beta codes that start 3 days earlier than Bulletstorms Beta Access I flipped out and not in the good way. I feel completely ripped off. I bought Bulletstorm because I was an Unreal Tournament fan and it looked Unreal Tournament crazy. I preordered Bulletstorm BEFORE they even released the fact that they were going to add Gears 3 Beta Access. I was supporting Epics new venture that a lot of people at least that I knew were sketchy about. And the fact that just a bunch of employees get to play the Beta 3 days before me makes no logical sense at all. If they were to recommend the Beta to anyone the only option people have are Gears 3 preorder and get in on the 25th. So what is the need for them to be 10 days ahead of the curve? Makes no sense. It feels like a slap in the face when a true dedicated fan gets screwed over by this. So PR and increase in sales is more important than your already dedicated fanbase. Thanks Epic for showing your true colors!

I'm really digging the incendiary nades! One of my favorite moments so far is spawning on trenches and picking them up, looking over at the other, and diving bombing the dude who runs for them first. Classic, and oh so rewarding! The whole game feels so much more fluid, and being able to aim down the sights of the hammerburst is nice too. Overall its a blast even when you are getting owned.

Can't believe people say they bought bulletstorm for the beta ,thats just stupid and shallow. I enjoyed the bulletstorm , thought it was fun , reminded me of gears mixed with bioshock mixed with other cool games in one. The beta for me was a very good bonus. I guess if people don't have games to play a beta works out pretty good for them if they bought a 60 dollar game for it. For me it's just a teaser of what I'm picking up in the fall with all my other cool games.
