According to a "trusted source" of tech blog Engadet, the price of the Nintendo Wii is about to be cut all the way down to $150. Reportedly, the price-drop for the Wii will begin on May 15.
As Engadget points out, the timing is a little suspect: It would seem to make sense that Nintendo would wait until E3 a couple monts from now to announce a price cut on the Wii, so take this with a grain of internet-salt.
Still, though, $150 is really, really cheap for a Wii, a system I've been sort of re-discovering over the last few months as my child begins to show an interest in video games. What about you guys? Who out there is still playing with his Wii?

Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid Other M, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mario Strikers Charged, and EPIC MICKEY!!!

Just picked up Wheel Of Fortune. It's pretty good.
I think Nintendo is getting desperate. The 3DS sold ok, but not what Nintendo needed. There is a situation you get into when you have huge records sales when your system launches. You now have to maintain those sales. Not going to happen with the Wii and the 3DS isn't helping.
So guess what? Price cuts.

The last time I played a game thoroughly on the Wii was when Mario Party 2 came out on the Virtual Console back in December. lol

I don't have a Wii but have been considering purchasing one lately mainly because I really want to try Epic Mickey and the latest DK, and with a new Zelda game upcoming this price cut could be the thing that convinces me to pull the trigger on buying one.

They are just making me feel like crap because I spent $250 on mine, oh well. I am going to dish out another $250 for the 3DS so I guess I didn't learn my lesson. This is good so long time Nintendo Fans who don't have a WII can buy one and get upcoming games like SKyward Sword, The new Kirby, and the new pokemon game hinted. It could also be helpful to new games that will possibly be localized like XenoBlade and Last Story.

My friends and I play super smash bros all the time, and we have played probably over 800 hours of it. So I guess you could say I play with my friends Wii a lot!!! :D

The Wii is great for the Nintendo fanboy because with virtual console you can replace all of your Nintendo's and have one unit while keeping up with new games. ZELDA / METROID / MARIO / DK for life!!

I use my Wii to play Wii Ware NES games. My son though plays the heck out of it.

I've always wanted to buy one. However the only games I'd probably buy are SuperSmash and Zelda:TP! :) So with this price cut, I'd pretty much get a Wii and one of the two for free for a $200 price, which is nice! It would also be nice to have a Wii in case I have people over.

I'll start playing my Wii again when Skyward Sword comes out.

All game developers need to stop making new systems!! I still have yet to upgrade my PS2 let alone my Gamecube. STOP!!!! Your advancing to fast just relax and reap the benifits your getting from your customers now. Whats the rush??

I would expect the next Nintendo systems mechanics to be GREATLY revolving around 3D matching the motion control. When the First DS came out with its Touch controls... Soon after came the Wii with its Motion control. Granted the Wiimote can do more then a stylus but still, you can see how they both relate in some ways. And now, Nintendo 3DS!!! A new console is going to match in some way! Like with the GBA to match Game Cube, the DS to match the Wii... It's been their pattern for a while now.
With MS adding its Kinnect, Sony having Move on top of being the only 3D system so far The Next Nintendo console needs to really step up to keep itself in the market!
I see it having the ability to use Active 3D that works with following the players position by a 3D camera on top of tracking the Wiimote. It's Nintendo so YOU KNOW they want you to have a controller most of the time. I can also see it TRYING to add a little 3D effect to the games without glasses just like the 3DS.
Only time will tell!

I almost don't play it since I got my PS3. I still have it because I'm waiting for Zelda Skyward Sword!

i don't have one, but if nintendo isn't really planing to release a new console with backward compatibility then i may consider getting one thanks to the price cut

We really had to make a "playing with your Wii" joke? Really? We're how old now? It's hard enough to get serious respect for the console, and that's not helping.

Nintendo is preparing to unveil their new console pretty soon I believe. But they still have to sell enough Wii consoles before then..
