The release date for shooter Brink has been changed, but this is not a delay notice. The game is coming out a week early, on May 10.
"Production wrapped on Brink earlier than we planned and we didn't see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready," said Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks. "It's apparent from the tremendous reaction so far that people are eager to jump online and play, and if we can make that happen earlier - we're going to."

Um, let me point something out for you:
"...it has a single player game that isn't just multiplayer with bots"
Well, what do you think single player in an FPS is? It is essentially multiplayer with bots. This is particularly the case with Brink because of the setup it is using. Brink is entirely objective based gameplay which coincides with any "mission" that may be found in another FPS. Then, upon completion of said mission, the multiplayer aspect can end and any scenario they want can play out. This could be cutscenes or tutorials or what-have-you.
Furthermore, you decide what settings you want to play with: Don't like multiplayer? Disable it. However, if you have it enabled you will get much better at the game; and that is the main reason it was part of the design of the game. It keeps people from learning bad habits that form when just playing AI all the time.
So, your pick, but if you really think that Brink is a bad idea you're an imbecile.
Enough said.

ok i get moving up 7 days so your not in a sales struggle with LA NOIRE
but now your in the fire of the last 5 days of the gears 3 beta could effect the 360's first 5 days online.
if it's ready give it to us now.
BigPoppaChunk
@allpointsw yes you can go you and bots v bots
or a team of friends v bots
or a team of friends v a team of friends
or a few friends on both sides with the rest bots
or you with all randoms
or your friends v randoms
and so on
BigPoppaChunk
@ekg yeah i just confirmed their is a two sided story set in mission stages you can look at the achievments or trophys and it has them for story and missions during campaign
ECW118
this is going to be just like MAG and that game is still awesome
allpointsw
Does this have a mode where you have a team of humans that go against computer bots? Or is it strictly human vs human teams?
BigPoppaChunk
@EKG i'm sure for a fact their is a two sided story one for each faction, but i believe you are right on the idea you were saying you basically play the multiplayer as the story so to say with bots or coop with friends.
you can think of the story aspect like unreal tournament3 '
you learn the controls against bots with a light story srinkled in for intrests sake , the coop the same no story sprinkle for multiplayer.
i imagine that in story coop after big events a cut scene will accure, while in multiplayer no cut scenes just new objectives.
P.S. i have a xbox , i use to have a ps3 and MAG was a good multiplayer only game not great but good. coulda been better if it was 32 v 32 with better graphics anyway.

More than half of console owners arn't connected to the internet? What BS, stop lying, the PS3 connected rated is over 81% and the 360 is 72% or something around there. You question how much people enjoy online shooters?! Is that a joke, have you been on a Call of Duty or Halo recently, there are well over 500,000 online at all times, per console!
Multiplayer is a much more popular feature than a single player component in this day and age because of replayability. While people may play MW2's 5 hour campaign once they can easily get 5 days of play online. So with that said releasing a Multiplayer only (or heavily focused such as Brink) is much less riskier venture than releasing a single player only game such as Enslaved or *cough* Metro 2033 *cough*.
BTW I love singleplayer only campaigns but saying a multiplayer based shooter is idiotic is just plain stupid. My personal favorite game this generation is Warhawk, a retail multiplayer only title on the PS3. And even though it is now 4 years old and was practically a launch title, it still regularly has 4,000 people online so do not tell me a retail multiplayer game is a dumb idea.

Aaaaahhhhh yyyyyyeeeeeaaaa! I've been pumped for Brink for a long time. This news just means they developers/publisher have a lot of confidence in the product.

You know, from what I understand this game is a multiplayer only shooter. I can't find any concrete evidence that shows me it has a single player game that isn't just multiplayer with bots. Does anyone know for sure if this game has a standard single player campaign?
It would be absolutely idiotic to release a multiplayer only shooter for $60. None have been successful so far on the Xbox 360. Minus some MUCH cheaper downloadable games. More than half of all console owners don't have their consoles connected to the internet. For the ones who do, how many of them enjoy online gaming? Mine is connected, but I hate most multiplayer games.
So after you deduct the amount of people who do not have consoles connected online, and then deduct from that the people who are connected, but don't enjoy online shooters, you may then deduct the people who DO like online shooters, but aren't going to leave Call of Duty anytime soon.
What you are left with is a very, very small group of people who may enjoy playing a $60 multiplayer only shooter.
