Everyone in gaming might be hyping 3D, but Sony has been focused on slightly different, esoteric gaming experience since at least 2003: Augmented Reality gaming. Sony's next handheld system (code name: NGP) will feature some very impressive tech that will allow AR games beyond what we've seen before. Using the system's camera, the NGP takes your immediate surrounding and creates games based on where you actually are.
According to the PlayStation Blog,
"NGP builds on our experience with augmented reality over the years with PlayStation 2/EyeToy, PSP, and PS3/PlayStation Move. With front and rear cameras that combine real-time images of you and your environment, a brilliant 5-inch multi-touch OLED screen and rear multi-touch pad, internal motion sensors, and dual analog sticks, NGP offers new ways to interact that will change the way you think about augmented reality games… and possibly even change the way you think about reality"

Nice gimmicks, but I'm not buying "AR" stuff until you guys at Sony have done it perfectly. But until you guys can make it awesome and remove the "Oh this was fun for 15 minutes, lets get back to shooting people on Killzone 3" I don't think it'll be awesome. Its like 3D, in the future everyone is going to have messed up eyes cause of it.

I love how people say that the NGP or 3DS are rip offs of each other. First off; the NGP is completely different, and the Augmented Reality stuff it does it also different. as well as the 3DS! Secondly; there is no way they copied each other because they both started production a LONG time ago so it's practically impossible. The fact that they both have it is because thats the cool thing now adays, Augmented Reality that is. So just shut up fanboys.

@sonicfan200 How can you ripoff something is it came out first? Not just first but along time before. Everyone calling it a ripoff needs too look at dates. The only thing new here is NGP. Sony has been using Kinect's " controller less motion gaming" and Nintendo's "AR stuff for years".
