Ubisoft recently held an Assassin's Creed art exhibit in Germany where Assassin's Creed 3's art director, Mohamed Gambouz, was in attendance. The folks over at HookedGamers had the chance to ask him a few questions and of course they asked about Assassin's Creed 3. "What can you say about Assassin's Creed 3? Which setting are you thinking about now, when you think about AC3," they asked. His response was a bit surprising and a bit vague.
"Well, I personally would do something completely new. Maybe something in an Asian or South American setting, at least nothing that we have already made. But in the end it's not my decision. But you can be sure that we read the reactions of our customers in forums, blogs and Facebook and Twitter very closely and also seriously talk through the suggestions from our players from time to time. In the next few months you will truly experience more details."
This of course is just what he would like to see in the game. While Assassin's Creed 3 hasn't had an official reveal yet, we have no doubts that is coming. Last we heard, Ubisoft was planning on releasing the next Assassin's Creed game before March 31, 2012. I find it unlikely they haven't decided on a location yet and aren't well into production. Then again maybe he's just not letting information slip until Ubisoft is ready to announce something official. He is the art director after all, his opinion on the series matters.
Do you want Assassin's Creed 3 to be set in Asia or South America?

I would really like to see the next installment take place in Russia. There is so much history there, that it would be easy to come up with a good story. Also, after reading the Assassin's Creed comic that takes place in Russia, I would really like to see them use the main character from the comic in the new AC game. Also I've seen a lot of people say the next main character should be a female. I just don't think that would work too well.

South America all the way. The civilizations here have been well mentioned in the past Assassin's Creed (for example, the Lines of Nazca were glyphs from Subject 16 in Assassin's Creed 2 and the Incas are very related to the Mayans and Aztecs for being one of the first big civilizations in America).
Although Asia could be a good option, I still think South America holds inside more mystery because it is not a place that's mentioned in a lot of games. And it's just perfect for Assassin's Creed. (:
By the way, I totally LOVED Brotherhood. This is one of the few frachises that you don't have to worry about the company to screw it, because they always have something big and new that makes you stay siting all day in you couch with your eyes sticked in your TV. Favorite game ever <3.

Let the main character be Female this time please. An Asian setting sounds grand.

I vote Russia. And then any Oriental region after that. *nod*
Also, "camaro72toy", you obviously aren't a 'professional gamer' as you claim to be, if you had trouble with Brotherhood. Honestly, I thought it was the easiest game in the series so far.

I'd vote South America if I had to choose between the two. It's unusual, and I think AC has already successfully created interesting worlds out of two settings that had virtually never appeared in games before them.

I would have to say asia, cause martial arts could be a really big thing for the assasin's creed series.

All I know is Brotherhood sucked Big Time. I was getting frustrated over the easiest of parts. Things that would be so easy to pull off in other games were unnecessaraly difficult to the point of utter frustration. I would have to stoop to looking on youtube on how to pass the section, which they said was easy, but when I tried it, it was not that way at all. For instance, a part where you are supposed to follow a guy across a bridge without being detected, then follow him around the corner, sneak by the guards, then once he starts running, follow him. every time I rounded out that corner or tried to sneak by the guards, they would get me no matter what I tried or what route I took. I am awesome at part 1 and 2, so this enraged me to the point that I just took the game back out of utter disgust that me as a professional gamer, can't even pass an "easy" part in this game. like I said, just unneccessary difficulty at doing the simplest of things. Please fix the third one so this doesn't wind up ruining the franchise.

Asia. Hands down.

How are they going to explain Desmond being Asian??? Unless they follow a new Assassin! :D
paulbvarela
asia would be the perfect setting. so many new weapons to choose from and then you have the combat. the combat should be really advanced with tons of different martial arts. it will be the ultimate AC
catrachohn
south america sounds great, if they do the Incas maybe they could make some new interesting game mechanics (mountain climbing?).
cwhas2godhands
Modern day Sao Paulo would be insane.
BarrakiOfToa
I like that Feudal Japan idea because if it's in South America, there will definitely be SOME scene in a
Mayan temple.
Taco151
South America is different but what's special about it?
thecuredivision
Feudal Japan would be awesome.
StormKing
