Welcome to the Doldrums of April! This is one of those black hole weeks, where all of the good video game releases seem to have been sucked onto other dates. For instance, this Tuesday was a wasteland, but on April 19 you'll get Mortal Kombat, SOCOM 4, and Portal 2. Holy video game overload, Batman! You'd think publishers would want to space these out a bit more. So you know, you have that busy week of gaming to look forward to.

So instead of dissecting that Alaskan hunting game which is completely Sarah Palin-free, Rob Manuel takes us into the world of indie games and Leah Jackson, freshly returned from MLG Dallas, takes us to the land of competitive eSports. We also talk about the news and goings on in your favorite industry. Check it out. You'll see.

Feedback -- Indie Games & MLG Dallas 2011 Highlights »

Here's your handy-dandy, follow along guide to what we talked about:

  • More shots have been fired in the Infinity Ward / Activision case. Someone needs to turn this saga into a movie.
  • The hacker collective Anonymous has issued a warning to Sony, and Sony has been having website issues. Are they related?
  • Gamestop looks to secure their digital future by acquiring Spawn Labs and Impulse, Inc. Two companies that will branch out their offerings beyond brick and mortar stores.
  • Plus, Videogame Deathmatch! Round Two is nearly over, so get your fingers over there and vote now.
  • Rob Manuel delves deep into the world of indie games, and everyone talks about their favorites.
  • Leah Jackson spills the beans about MLG Dallas, and what it was like being in the middle of eSporting. Plus, what would everyone's dream eSport title be?

Feedback: Where we hope that all the recent hacking inspires an updated movie version of Sneakers.

I'm just wondering why G4 has so little coverage on this dishwasher vampire game? I put it into the g4 search and only 3 articles pop up, I put Stacking in and like 350+ articles pop up. I played Dishwasher this weekend and it was alright, very violent, stacking is way better IMO. But I heard of stacking eons ago from this site, and hadn't heard of Dishwasher at all until this weekend when I was surfing XBL. Is that a bit of bias on g4s part? Double fine pays better than Ska Studios? anyway, just seems weird that the one down-loadable title has soo much coverage and the other one has soo little?

Thank you guys for doing a show like this. I enjoy listening to other people's ideas and opinions about video games. It helps me understand why I love and sometimes hate them. I feel like I have to defend some of these comments about how bad the show is, or how it could be better.

    Rant start.

First off, it is a web show about people connected in the industry of video games talking about the industry of video games. This is important information that you should care about. And about bias's, this info is coming from people that play ALL of the major systems regularly. Not too many people can afford a 360, PS3, Wii, and a gaming PC. These people have the luxury to play all of them more then the average person, so respect their opinions a little more than from someone who is content on whatever system they happen to own.

Truth is that PSN and XBL both have their ups and downs and this crew has mentioned that in several feedbacks. When I look at the comments I want to see other people's opinions on the topics discussed in the episode. When I see talk about bias's and how they should do this and how they should do that, it takes me away from that wonderful thing feedback is: A conversation about I subject I care about, Video Games. If you think you can do better, do it. Please, make a podcast of your own. There needs to be more stuff out there like this anyways.

    Rant over.

So, that Torchlight game looks pretty cool. Anyone out there play it?

I think Adam was mistaken about Rovio getting purchased by EA, it was the publisher Chillingo that was purchased.

Did anyone ever figure out what Indie game Adam wanted to talk about but couldn't remember the name? I don't think they ever mentioned it on the show.

I believe he described it as using the Unreal engine and having teleporters/teleportation.

It's fun to watch Adam kick the teeth out of the promotional stuff they make him read at the start of the show. You're no Oscar Wilde, Adam, but you're close.

So let me get this straight, is Assassins Creed 3 a real life game?

Geo is Desmond, Anonymous is the Guild, and Sony is an Abstergo ran Templar organization???

I really hope you guys have a segment on the Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that Valve is doing for the release of Portal 2. The 13 games in Steam's "The Potato Sack Pack" have been updating constantly with content that included random puzzles/clues/codes/whatnot. There's even a Wiki started about it so everyone can work together to solve it. If you solve something in one game, it leads to another game and so on.

Some are led to an Aperture Science log-in screen which is only accessible if you are logged into your steamcommunity.com page. Only then - if you have met the requirements - you can try out some passwords to gain entry to the site.

I bet even after Portal 2 is released and all of the "Potato" content is wiped from the other games, those codes and such will be useful in Portal 2.

just wondering, not trying to start a fight, but what was the reason of the failure of the dreamcast? my brother "borrowed" one from a friend and it was cool but never really impressed me(my nes was still my major console at that point until i got money) and even though it was new i kept just playing 10-15 year old games. this seems to be rambling on for some reason.

Speaking of spectators, holy crap if anyone, get Day9 for an interview. He's extremely intelligent, funny, and one of the most looked-up-to people in the Starcraft community. That'd be the greatest feedback ever if you got him on for an interview!

Thanks phosphor112, unlike the Feedback panel you sir are informed.
I cant believe Sesslar and his staff aren't up to speed on this story at all! Pathetic G4, pathetic.

Remember when Patrick broke the Infinityward story, Adam did many talkabouts on it. This story is almost as big, if not more important because it affects gamers directly and our rights.

I'm dissapointed in you Mr. Editor in chief.

One last thing. I'll break down who is actually doing illegal things.
Geohot broke the DMCA, which is why he is facing litigation. - Status: Illegal.
Sony took away otherOS, current litigation is determining if that is illegal or not. - Status: Unknown.
Anonymous is DDoSing and threatening to do financial harm to someone are both illegal. - Status: Illegal

There are many misconceptions here on this Feedback panel about the whole Sony, Geo, Anon case.

Let's start from the lawsuit with Geo.
    - Geo is getting sued by Sony for Copyright Infringement and breaking the DMCA.
    - Anonymous gets mad, and DDoD's Sony's servers. This is now a fact, Sony even hired Prolexic, a company that has the best DDoS protection in the world.

    - The "encryption" you speak of, credit card info, etc, was in "plain text." That's factually incorrect. Here is the correct information. Someone who did some security research on the CFW PS3's realized that those who accessed PSN (illegally using CFW) the consoles sent out plain text. Normal unmodified PS3's use encryption over a standard HTTPS protocol.

    - Another thing. These IP's you talk about, regarding the youtube video. Sony did request them, but were denied to Sony. The subpoena was granted after it was modified to "Attorney's Eyes Only." That means only Sony's and Geo's Attorneys can view this IP info to determine the jurisdiction of the ongoing case. Sony is trying to prove that this dominantly affected California over New Jersey, to have the case happen in San Fransisco, which is pretty much where SCEA's HQ is.

    The more you know.

There's no question that Sony is in the wrong with Geohotz, but the thing that Anonymous doesn't seem to get and I didn't hear mentioned here is this is what the government is for. The government may suck and may have sucked since it existed, but it does have a habit in ruling in favor of civil rights. Shouldn't the attacks happen after the government fails? Even if the local courts rule in Sony's favor the court case will be appealed. It seems non-sensical and damaging to me. The last thing we need is a media frenzy over cyber terrorists.

hmm what do i have to say about this episode oh yea about that sony hack crap i suggest ppl just use that credit card to buy a psn card any drug store sould be fine also that ps3 agreement thing and game stop monoplizing the dlc and exclusive content i doubt ill stick to sony or even try to think about the xbox next incarnation but the wii did let me down so games in general may have to take a back seat untill that dies down. plus the controle sony have over the ps3 i really don't like that because if u purchase a hardware the fact that u spend money on it doesn't mean they can choose weather or not how you use it if its online games they worried about then inforce that for no cheating but if they system goes down and shuts down all current ps3 where u can't play online or off thats something i don't want to deal with because i bought the system and when their product goes bad i don't see them extending the warrenty to fix the pos hardwear the made you shell out so much cash for just to say yea but u don't fully own it
