Mortal Kombat may be getting Green Lantern if recent rumors prove to be true. A video showing the DC hero in the Mortal Kombat character selection screen has appeared online. Since the PS3 version of MK will be getting Kratos as a playable character many gamers have been wondering if the Xbox 360 version will receive a similar exclusive. I happen to be one of the people who have been speculating like mad about which character it would be but I never would have guessed Green Lantern. As much as I want to believe, someone could have just used footage from MK vs DC to make this. My fingers are still crossed for the Chief.

NEWS: Mortal Kombat DLC Already Revealed

While this certainly is still a rumor, the video is fairly convincing. Plus we already know that Mortal Kombat and DC Comics have a relationship. Both MK and GL are owned by Warner Bros, and the Green Lantern movie comes out in a few months, it all kind of makes sense, from a marketing stand point anyway. That being said I highly doubt DC would sign off on having their character brutally ripped in half, the very reason I didn't like MK vs. DC.

What do you think, is this rumor legit? Would Green Lantern be a good fit in Mortal Kombat?

We'll know for sure when Mortal Kombat is released on April 19th.

Easily copied from MK vs. DC Universe... I'm still hoping for Marcus Fenix and a CHAINSAW FATALITY!!!

I'm almost sure this is fake, DC Comics wouldn't let one of their heroes perform fatalities.

well, I am not buying on the PS3 because i'm boycotting Sony, but I'm not buying on 360 because i don't own one, and am not going to buy one due to their high failure rates and the fact you have to pay for multiplayer... so i'm hoping for a PC exclusive...

That Green Lantern model looks the same as the one from MK vs DCU.

You need to stay off N4G or at least stop bringing those trash rumors from over there, to here. I remember back in the good old days, when G4 had standards...

As for the topic, ask yourself this.....

Why would Netherrealm not advertise an exclusive 360 character by now?

Didn't hackers break the game open to unlock everything?

Why worry about an exclusive character, when there's still no 360 demo?

Why would Green Lantern be exclusive to Xbox? As far as I know, there's no exclusive 360 game that features Green Lantern, but there is on the PS3. It's called DCU Online.

Would you settle for GL instead of a true exclusive character?

Are you still waiting on that exclusive playable character for Batman Arkham Asylum?

When I hear that Green Lantern might be in a game, i cringe. And I dont want to, because he is probably my favorite superhero. The problem I see, however, is that a game cant allow a player access to the infinite possibilities of the power ring. For once, the video game form would actually constrict the abilities of a superhero -- simply because his abilities are just about any ability he wants.

A giant fist, a hammer, laser blasts, the Gatling gun from the movie trailer...maybe a few others for special button combos. Could it be pulled off for a fighting game? Sure, of course it could. Should it? No, it wouldnt do justice to the character.
