An article posted on Examiner (quoting the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine) indicates that Doom creator John Carmack's eagerly awaited shooter Rage will have a campaign mode that lasts for 15 hours. If this pans out, it's a little surprising given the fact that the game will ship on two DVDs for the Xbox 360. The news comes via an interview with the game's creative director Tim Willits.
I understand there's a whole school of video game thought that maintains that longer games are better because of their length -- more bang for the buck, so to speak. Personally, though, I think 15 hours is an optimum length for a shooter. There's nothing worse than a game that feels padded with repetitive content.
What do you think about a 15-hour shooter?
