Feedback is tackling some topics this week that we need your help with. That's right, you. It's a bit of a slow week for video games, unless you're a gigantic fan of Remington Super Slam Hunting: Alaska for the Wii. And who isn't? So we're expanding our scope to video games in general, and we're going to go off the road just a bit.
We'll be talking about digital distribution in the wake of Gamestop's recent acquisitions, and the news about all of the hacking going on everywhere. Plus we're talking indie games and MLG Dallas. It's a veritable cornucopia of different topics, so what do you want to know about the above subjects? Want to know what defines an indie game? How much fun Leah had in Texas while nerding out watching the pros play? Or do you want to know the secret identity of some of the top hackers? (Hint: we don't know).
Drop your questions into the comment section below, and then tune in on Wednesday!

when i first heard about homefront i thought it sounded like a shakey idea because of the whole korea invading concept so i dug a little deeper. from forums about the development i found out that the original concept was supposed to be china invading the US. now this makes more sense, but to stay politically friendly they compromised their morals which made the games background story completely far fetched.
So my question is have you seen or do you think we will see more games come out that try to appease the powers that be by sacrificing a plausible and better story with something more politically friendly?

considering the problems sony is facing with Anonymous, which indirectly effects millions of innocent sony customers, do yuo think Anonymous is becoming less of an ideal of protecting people to more of a bully who hurts anyone tht doesn't like them?

If you choose this question my real name is Gabriel. I was wondering how you guys feel about digital distribution of games. I love several xbox arcade games like shadow complex, and guardian of light and the ps1 classic line up on psn. However, when it comes to my bigger purchases I love getting the disc in my hands! Do you think the industry will go totally digital in the future for triple A titles such as assassins creed and gears of war? BTW love the show!

Now I'd hate to be the guy to make you decide on whether I do something but! I do not own any DS at all but I have recently been looking to purchase one and I am not convinced that the 3DS is the version to hop on the bandwagon with. It's $250 bucks with a crappy battery life and almost no games for release. Should I just buy a DSI and wait for the second or third version of the 3DS or wait 1.5 years for a better version of the 3DS? I'm more interested in the idea of owning a DS rather than a 3DS. I'm just looking for opinions. Thanks
P.S. It's pronounced SYMUS

I guess not really on topic for the week, but this question/comment was inspired by last weeks Feedback and Sessler's Soapbox.
Do you think in this current world of not only games but technology in general, with companies like (to use an overused example) Activision with COD and Apple with the iPhone and iPad, to take a step back and look at the world around them in order to get a sense of what people actually want instead of always abrasively charging forward loosing pieces of themselves along the way?
I personally feel that it wouldn't be so bad if major companies took up to a year, or at least some noticeable amount of time, to stop developing for the future, and finish developing today. At the rate we are going, it appears that eventually we won't have taken the time to lay a sound foundation that if the public suddenly loses interest in the technology that's being pushed, we'll all be picking up our N64s again as a more permanent device because we know the quality is good. Or at least back a few years to the plethora of good content available around when the 360 and PS3 came out.
Also given the current situation in Japan, with the state of the future of technology in question, now seems like a pretty good time to start this.
Thanks for reading the whole thing if you made it down here!

Dear Feedback crew,
As methods to gain bonus game content continue to grow (let's consider Dragon Age 2, for which I am most familiar with in this regard) how do you think this will impact the quality of certain games, especially rushed or 'factory' games? For instance, in Dragon Age 2, you could register your game with your EA account, click on free bonus offers on webistes, play a facebook flash game, and wind up with over a dozen bonus items linked to your character profile -- And thats before considering any pre-order material!
Its hard to resist all those luscious items that one can not get a hold of without pre-ording during the important sales period. I cant speak for everyone of course, but I think most gamers cant help but want to collect all the bonus content they can for a game, especially if its an anticipated sequel to the well known game called Dragon Age.
So i suppose my question boils down to this: Are games now more frequently taking advantage of a gamer's inner desire to collect everything they can by offering pre-order items, special bonus items, etc., just to help boost the sales of an otherwise shoddy game?

You guys talked about the 3DS's 3D being more of a gimmic and since most games (if not all) will have to be in 2D & 3D, there won't ever be a necessity to have a game in 3D. However, I can't think of 3D being any more useful on TV's with Blu-Ray or the PS3 for that matter, other than to enhance what you're watching/playing. I guess my question is:
What game mechanic can you think of that you would actually NEED 3D to accomplish a goal in a game other than to just enhance your viewing pleasure?

In recent months, a lot of talk and questions have arisen about the next generation of consoles. My question is not "when" will we see the next console, but "if" we will see the next console, at least in the traditional sense that we are used to. With recent new products such as "OnLive" and pushes by big companies like Google towards "cloud" computing, will our need for a new console be replaced by a need for a cloud-based gaming platform?

I'm a senior in high school and so excited to graduate! The only issue I'm going through is a little career choosing doubt. I plan to major in psychology, but I love gaming and anything related to it. I would gladly work in the gaming world (although gaming colleges in the south are pretty rare) but I don't feel it is very stable. I wouldn't mind if I was just the person who gets coffee for the real game designers if it meant I could be near games. So, I guess my question is do you feel that the game industry will become stable soon, later, or not at all? Thanks for answering!

With more of a focus coming in to play regarding digital distribution of games(mainly speaking about PC here), do you think that that this will put more of a lock on how/when we play our games? With ease of access come ease of piracy. Digitally distributing games takes one of the steps for releasing a pirated game, and greatly simplifies it, talking about DRM and other such disc based protections.
Some companies are now requiring you to be actively connected to the internet and logged in through their portal to have access to most, if not all features. I think that with a larger pool of digital downloads, publishers/developers are going to start going the way of alternative methods of protection. Ubisoft is the most glaring example, and their game Settlers 7. Granted the internet is everywhere, and most homes are not without it, but I still feel that I should be allowed to play my games when I want, and not waste my bandwidth on keep alive and verification packets.
But, I am sure indie developers are loving more focus on the digital distribution, as that cuts out a costly part of the publishing cycle.
Does anyone there at Feedback have a problem with the way games are slowly being tied into "The Cloud"? Anyone see it as a progressive step forward?

Now days the terms casual and hardcore gamer are thrown around a lot. Depending on who you ask the classification of a gamer depends on either the type of games you play( like social or traditional), the amount of money spent on games, or the amount of time one devotes to paying games. In your own opinions, how do you define a gamer?

I really enjoy watching the pros in MLGing play and would really love to see more coverage of the pro tournaments on G4. Would/has G4 considered a live coverage of the MLG tournaments like they do for E3 or ComicCon? Also, Leah is Day[9] as dreamy in real life as he is on his webshow? <3 Day[9]

Hey Adam i know ur really busy but if u do read this i want to ask u what genre of games do u find the hardest to get though when you have to review them and also since its been a long time since a next gen console which i think is a good thing cause i like to see game developers master the systems we have, i was wondering do u think if the economy gets better that game deveopers will take the the same amount of time future game consoles or wait 4 or 5 years and shell out another console?

Last weeks Feedback panel seemed to give a luke warm welcome to the arrival of the 3DS. Especially with the less than spectacular launch titles available. My question is... in the last 15 years, has there ever been a great launch of a new system, handheld or console? Which launches best balanced out availablity of systems and quality of games?

Most dlc reviews I've read focus on the content as a standalone product instead of how the original game's experience changes in conjunction with the dlc. With the release of ME2's Arrival, many reviewers were disappointed about how Arrival didn't deliver what was expected, mostly referencing the Shadow Broker dlc. I recently played through the game again for the first time since release after buying most of the dlc and Arrival added a sense of urgency to the overarching story. I liked that it gave the illusion that I didn't have all the time in the galaxy to make sure everyone is loyal, while LotSB perpetuated the feeling that I didn't need to worry about the reapers and I could just read back story message logs all day despite it having excellent content. What are your thoughts on this?

What state do you feel that the games industry is in today? Not compared to the past, but to now. Do you think it's as strong as other forms of entertainment medium, or do you think it could be stronger? Also, with the recent issues that companies like Microsoft and Sony have had with hackers, do you forsee any major shift with online policy between the two (ex. Sony starting to charge for online to possibly help pay for build stronger online defenses, or Microsoft raising the price for Xbox live to do the same thing)?

Are you all as dissapointed as I am of Mass Effect 2 DLC? Don't you believe that each DLC had a really good concept but Bioware just didn't push the envelope enough for them to be something a whole lot better than what was put out? (Besides Shadow Broker was the best and Overlord was almost as good as Shadow Broker)
Kasumi concept of the Hiest was great but it didn't feel like much of a hiest. I just don't think they built it up enough. Getting into the vault was just too easy. They should of made it more of a challenge and larger part of setting up the hiest. And it was kind of disappointing how after 1 mission you gain their loyalty. Like the other characters joined your squad you first met them on a mission and helped out there and than they had a loyalty mission. I felt like I was ripped off a mission. I mean she is a Thief at least she could have been stealing something or in trouble by someone chasing them down and got to kill them or something!
Arrival had the spark of greatness with the Reapers and how everyone there was under their influence. But I mean the beginning part of the game where you can stealth through it all the enemies just stand still so stealthing through it wasn't even difficult. And there wasn't even any cool stealth paths that you can take like through vents or something. I just shot them because just walking through the level was so lame. And I was just kind of dissapointed how they said that they would tie Mass Effect 2 directly into Mass Effect 3 like you were going to get some insight of how it is all going to go down. But it is just a delay of them and nothing that goes directly into story of Mass Effect 3 because its still going to happen and we haven't learned anything besides they are coming but we all knew that already.
