The PlayStation Network is down for unplanned maintenance while various Sony websites, like the PlayStation Blog, have been down for most of the day. Several hours before the PSN and Sony websites reported loading issues the hacker collective Anonymous issued a statement to Sony in regards to their actions against hackers, specifically GeoHot. Anon has not taken credit for an attack and Sony has yet to confirm there has been an attack at all.

Many are wondering if these outages are related to the statement from Anonymous. An official PlayStation twitter account acknowledged there were problems with the PSN, "PSN currently undergoing sporadic maintenance. Access to the PSN may be interrupted throughout the day. We apologize for any inconvenience." Reports of problems connecting to the PSN began after the statement was posted and as of now it seems to be functioning again.
Anonymous called out Sony specifically for their treatment of the hacker GeoHot who Sony has been involved with in a civil case. They site issues with Sony's access to personal information from those who viewed the video of the hack or who visited GeoHot's website.

i think that sony should of asked GEO HOT if he wanted a job insted of the lawsuit they served him with he jail broke the ps3 so what give him a job and maybe he could help protect everyones info so drop the lawsuit and put him on the pay role

Ugh. This whole PSN thing is just a mess. I hope they find the loser hacker(s) that broke into their network, because this whole thing is really pissing me off. Not like I'm in the minority of angry people either... but I FINALLY could recently afford to make the break from my PS2 and bought myself a (used) PS3 in April---at a MUCH cheaper price than a gaming store would have charged me, believe me on that. Since then, I've really been enjoying the all the games & PSN services that I now have access to. Playing the DC Universe Online game was my really my primary motivation to finally get the PS3 to begin with (my computer is WAY too old to run computer games on). I finally bought the DC game on April 21st.---only 3 days into the PSN outage. i thought that the Playstation Network couldn't be offline for this long, and it would be back online in a few days. Now it's been down over two weeks & I can't still can't even LOAD the freakin' game. It's like owning a 60-buck coaster.
Look, I understand why Sony pulled it all down, & I'm cool with them taking the time & effort to make it safe for consumers. And I'm a patient guy... I CAN handle the wait for them to get all their ducks in a row. I really don't want to come off like all the other whiny gamers that are all pissed about missing their online games & demanding re-compensation for not being able to access Sony's FREE SERVICES. But being physically disabled, I RARELY have this kind of extra money to throw around on "non-essential" entertainment stuff like video games. So being able to finally get myself a PS3 & the DC game is a REALLY BIG DEAL for me. I think that God must have himself an X-Box---because I think he's mocking me at the moment! I know...that's a really cynical & ridiculous joke to make. But I was really all exited to finally play DC Online (and eventually, other PS3 games). So finally having it & not being able to use it? It just really, REALLY SUCKS. I hope it get's fixed soon.

Just hope that the PSN is up by at least Friday. I have to say that going to an xbox now doesn't sound like a bad idea, though I'm still a little skeptical about the 3ROD as well as the ps3 YLOD. As for the hackers...just find them and put them in a mental institute with a child's toy computer that says the name of an animal or a letter when they try to press a button.

I know sony is working as hard as they can on this problem, but their servers went down at the best possible time its spring go out play some basketball. A few weeks of no online games is good. Get some sun im talking to the people with 10 or more days on black ops.

I'm taking bets on if sony would even make mention to this during their presentation at E3. Or just stick to their original presentation, and act like it's all under control.
I think if Sony want to really make good with their customers, they should include at sometime during their presentation to address everything that's been going on, and what they plan on doing to give back to their customers who've been without service for going on 2 weeks. It would be a little cheesy to try and promote a new game, when people won't even to enjoy the online features of that new game.
