The first Major League Gaming Pro Circuit event of 2011 is MLG Dallas coming up this weekend, and to get you prepped and ready to go we’re featuring a few teams and players to watch for from each of the three main games: Halo: Reach, Call of Duty: Black Ops,and StarCraft 2. Here are our Call of Duty: Black Ops players to watch.
At MLG Dallas this weekend it will be the first time that Call of Duty: Black Ops is making an appearance on the Pro Circuit. The Black Ops tournament is a standard open bracket double elimination that can support as many as 224 teams. Quite a few of them have shown they’re ready to make a big splash and go for the $10,000 prize. With Black Ops being a relatively new game in a brand new venue, all sorts of crazy things can happen but we’re sure our three favorite picks will make an impact, so let’s get started.
Optic Gaming – Nadeshot, JKap415, BigTymer, Merk
Team Optic Gaming is currently the household name when it comes to professional Call of Duty. Coming out in first place in MLG’s online qualifiers and second place against team Leverage in a $25,000 tournament, Optic is one of the few pro teams left that is committed to sniper gameplay at a time when most pros favor automatic weapons. They might bring those fun to watch sniping skills out in Dallas, but whatever they choose to do it will be fun to see the giants of Call of Duty competing on the big stage.
Quantic Leverage – AcheSlaya, Teepee2, Bob3195, ScumperJumper
Quantic Leverage will be participating in their first ever Pro Circuit event in Dallas, but they’re no stranger to competition. This top seeded team coming was recently able to pull off a win in a $25,000 tournament over favored Optic Gaming in a close 3-2 victory. They also picked up new player ScumperJumper (a.k.a. Scumpi) and with their tightened roster they’re a new favorite going into MLG Dallas.
Envy Us – Hastro, iStaiNViLLe, xxterroristxx, Str8Cannon
Team Envy Us is back and ready to win the first Black Ops title in Dallas. With heavy hitters and community favorites like Hastro and Stainville backing up their roster, Envy Us is the ultimate fan favored team to win.
Other honorable team mentions include Team Fear and Team Obey. Obey is going into Dallas as the third ranked seed and has been dominating on the ladder, while Team Fear is looking to upset all the top seeds. Again, Call of Duty: Black Ops is a new game to the circuit and what most of these popular teams need to watch out for are the unknown competitors hoping to make their way in the tournament scene. The unknowns have the best odds, as their competition won’t know what to expect when it comes to their strategic styles or tactics.
Who is your favorite Call of Duty: Black Ops team and who do you expect to take the first ever MLG Pro Circuit Black Ops competition in Dallas?

@bigchair if you seriously don't think you need skill to play MLG CoD I would love to see you try to play these kids and you will get out gunned everytime. MLG is a whole new level than Public matches on CoD.
@moopie I don't play Black Ops so I didn't know they banned rapid fire. I just caught up on the 25k the other day. MW2 is where its at.

I would rather squat on a cactus.
Starcraft 2 however, i will be watching.

sorry...you dont have to have skill in cod cuz the bloom is just unpredictable...you cannot train that or something. there can be teamwork, yes. but you def. dont need weaponskills...thats why so many noobs play cod (10+ years). on the other side...i have cod bo so iam not a hater or something like that... ;)

What I think is hilarious is that you all play video games and you don't even support it as a eSport. I liked when gaming was a nerdy thing to do because at least than we didn't have to deal with rude jerks online. :)

CoD? Pros? Sorry, those 2 things DO NOT MIX. CoD is about as unskillful as any game can get.

@dsa dude shut up you are just jealous they can make a living playing video games while you are at your boring ass office job pathetic to hate on someone making money

For your information BigTymer on Optic which is ranked 1st in the Pro Cicuit ladder works, goes to college and plays MLG so I think you should shut your mouth. Don't talk smack when you don't know anything. It's just disrespectful. These guys are insanely skilled and that deserve respect. If you have been gaming for 25 years than you should understand what an accomplishment that is and should have respect for them.

Leverage is going to win. That Domination match in the 25k tournament was just sad for Optic. It was like 264 to 16 and the match wasn't even over because they Optic rage quit. Other than that smack down Optic has a chance to win but if Leverage comes out to play like they did in the 25k tournament, which I am damn sure they will, they are going to win.
And just to let you know G4 no one snipes in MLG tournaments. These guys in Optic aren't the same that snipe and make montages. Especially in Black Ops you are an idiot if you even try to snipe in Black Ops. Everyone only uses FAMAS red dot or AK74u rapid fire.
By the way don't hate on MLG. Seriously to compete with these kids takes some serious skill and team work. Have a little respect for the players and respect for the game because they deserve it even if you don't think MLG is a sport.

wow MLG for call of duty black ops.. pretty pathetic these MLG are. these are the type of people with No job, no sex life, no education, a crap load of sugar and cholesterol in their blood vessels. last but not least they live in their basement.. gaming is a form of entertainment, and yes i dont mind competition.. but to make video gaming a professional goal/ professional sport is outright ridiculous. and thats from me with over 25 years of gaming experience
jaybustah
Haha. Good call ^

The only thing that could be more boring than playing COD's mp would be watching someone else play it.
