The Nintendo 3DS has been out since Sunday in the US, and first-day sales are looking very good for Nintendo. According to the company, "US day-one sales numbers for Nintendo 3DS were the highest of any Nintendo handheld system in our history."
While no specific figures were given, this statement means the 3DS outsold the original DS, the DS Lite and the DSi, which is pretty amazing, given the amount of hype and interest there was in those systems.
Nintendo also addressed the reports that the device is having technical problems, saying:
"The number of calls and emails received by our customer support center is well below the rate experienced during past hardware launches, and there are no widespread issues."
If you're having technical issues with your 3DS, Nintendo says you should to visit their support website or call its help line at 800-255-3700.

The reason stores have em is because Nintendo put out enough this time geesh people get over yourselves stop calling everything a gimmick and actually enjoy life a little the 3ds is a great system with many strengths and many great games coming

Is the fact that most stores have not sold out an indication of poor sales or an indication that Nintendo is not inflating hype by creating an artificial shortage?

Sweet. I went to my local target yesterday and saw they had 2 black 3ds and around 10 aqua 3ds. I was surprised I expected them to sell out since both pokemon black and white have been sold out at that store for weeks

I am going to go with "THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE" I live in Los Angeles, CA.. Every store I have gone in to has NOT sold there original Stock. ToysRUs, Bestbuy, Target, Walmart. None of them have sold out. So where are these numbers coming from? Most people refuse to pay 250.00 for this peice of garbage.. I am calling you out NINTENDO. Maybe you sold these units to stores with these numbers, but PEOPLE did not buy these units.. Stop lieing to the publc...

Why is anyone surprised by this?? Nintendo is notorious for coming out strong, and once their core fans get their hands on the latest and greatest Nintendo hardware, like all the others it will fall in numbers until something new comes out to spike up Nintendo sales. They will ride this 3DS wave right up until it's time for their new console.

I need to get it still, haven't owned a ds yet and probably going to be keeping thsi for a while until a new platform from nintendo launches. (a major one, I'm not the type to keep buying continuous, yearly products, example being my 2nd gen itouch, probably never buying another)

I picked one up at launch and I'm glad I did. Although the launch line up isn't great, SSFIV has done nothing but impress me, and I'm not a big of a fighter fan. The one game that has caught me off guard however is Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. The game is a strategy/tactics game that focuses more on being a good game than a tech demo and if it wasn't for a lacking line up I probably would have over looked this title. The system itself has blown me away and there's at least a few good games out right now to hold me over till the bigger franchises get released

I went into a Toys 'R Us on Sunday and they had tons of 'em. No crowds. Picked up the system, SSFIV, Rayman 3D and Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars. I have to admit, I was afraid I'd get it all charged up and start playing to be dissapointed, but honestly I'm shocked that I'm enjoying it as much as I am. Can't wait for DoA: Dimensions, RE: Mercenaries and Ocarina of Time!

Whu What??? They had a pretty small line for the launch i'm surprised their doing this well sort of. I thought it would do well but the lines then lead me to believe otherwise. But they said it was their best selling handheld the PSP might have it beat. Maybe? Well good for Nintendo I thought they needed more money.
