The tragic earthquakes and tsunamis that have plagued Japan won't stop the Tokyo Game Show, Japan's biggest gaming convention. It might slow it down a bit, however. Tokyo Game Show, which takes place each September, will consume a lot of power, power that could be needed to help fix the nuclear reactors. Power shortages to help this effort could last up to six more months, which puts TGS in a bit of a situation.
Right now, there are no plans to axe the show. A Tokyo Game Show spokesperson told Kotaku Japan, "Currently, we are not thinking of canceling or making the show smaller." He added, "Depending on the situation from here on out, it is possible that the show is reduced."
Tokyo Game Show is planned for September 15-18.

we need TGS more than ever because of what happen, it is Japan's E3, just like Gamescom is Europe's version of E3 after only just a short lifespan right now.

This is really double edged. I hadn't even thought about this aspect until I read the post by dreamkun. I would like to see the cost and the energy go towards helping everyone there but like dream said, it's very important to have something the people can occupy there minds with aside from crying themselves to sleep. I now think an event like this will be very beneficial. Too bad I'll miss most of it as I don't have cable lol. Be looking here for the hi-lights.

For a point on the Tokyo Game Show dow, it as been more then 2 years not much comes out of that show, even Japan Studios show more at E3 that at there own show. Japan videogame industry problems, its should reduce.

Hopefully there will be much fewer people without power by the time the Tokyo Game Show comes around. I think it'll be a good thing though, A lot of bad events have happened there and it'll be good for people to try and enjoy themselves.
