Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City First Details Revealed

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a third-person multiplayer shooter coming later this year. The game will be a collaboration between Capcom and Slant 6 Games. RE: Operation Raccoon City will be a team-based shooter that will serve as a "reinterpretation" of Resident Evil 2 and RE: 3. Today Capcom announced the first official details as well as releasing several images from gaming magazines. Keep reading for more.

NEWS: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Is In The Works

Resident Evil has sold over 45 million copies in its 15 years since launch. Capcom has decided it's time for the series to go in a new direction gameplay wise while still keeping the Resident Evil feel. The game will have feature "triple threat battles" which means you'll be fighting zombies, bio-organic weapons, other squads.

Here's the official plot:

It is September 1998 and the action centers once more on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Hearing of this plan, the US Government dispatches its own special forces to uncover any evidence that exposes the cause of the viral infection and Umbrella’s actions. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Services soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or in four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be available this winter for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

I'm getting this game for Christmas, hopefully!
I heard that it's coming out in March now instead of November D:
Also, you can see how much better PS3 is than X Box, front cover for PS3=AWESOME!!! X Box=Boring....

if its anything like resident evil 5 graphics il get it but i hope it don't have them danm cmera angles but if not il get it 4 a laugh should be god tho

aww RESIDENT EVIL how i fell in love with gaming. I hands down enjoyed and was captured by every RE GAME {RE2,RE1,RE3,RE0,RE CODE VERONICA,REOUTBREAK,REOUTBREAK FILE2,RE DEAD AIM,RE4}up until 5. Not to say it was a bad game i beat it and loved playing my friends online but with 5 it felt like it was lacking. Since ive played RE outbreak the one based on online co op that was light years ahead of it time (imo). It was like WOW RE ONLINE EPIC.but when i played RE5 so needless to say 5 didnt bring it like RE4 OR RE OUTBREAK did i wish i could more cleary explain my reasons but for many RE fans my feelings are understood.RE OPERATION RACOON CITY is going to be the new edition to the franchise capcom i pray that slant six does not not do with my beloved RE to what it did with the SOCOM series. Capcom you guys were left 4 dead back with outbreak then you were uncharted with re4 you guys had a great formula until you just copy and pasted re4 into re5 it felt very non resident evil please go back to your original style please go back to survival horror

Correct me if I'm wrong but did'nt Raccoon city and everything in it got destroyed by a nuke at the end of RE 3.What the hell are you gonna shoot that has'nt already been turned into atomic ash,radio active racoons?This is just Capcom doing what they do best,milking the well dry.

I don't know...the original REs were awesome. I really didn't like the shift from zombies to parasite infected bio weapons, so the shift back to old school zombies will be cool. I really didn't like the multiplayer situation added to RE5 so that might make this game a pain, but I guess that the fact that it is also a single player game might salvage this game. Who knows...only time will tell.

I can shoot zombies without being frightened and with friends in a number of different places at this point. Screw it, give me 5 bullets, 15 zombies, dark alleys, no hope and tell me, "Go." It's when I don't think I'll survive that I will have the most fun, give us that back.

OMG not to gloat but I think that someone is ease dropping on my conversations on Xbox live. For I did tell my friend this anyway I don't care cus this is awesome. I always wanted to play HUNK again or part of Umbrellas evil black op guys. Of course I don't like the whole U.S. getting in the way thing. I prefer coop over competitive. Oh well I will get rid of the pathetic government dogs and eliminate all witness and evidence.

According to early reports of RE: Operation Raccoon City, it sounded like it would be similar to Resident Evil: Outbreak. But now it's clearly just another typical shooter. Where is the innovation in this industry? Do I literally need to start playing Facebook games just to break away from the shooter genre that has dominated the market as of late? God, I hope not. I don't want to be one of "those guys".
