According to THQ, Homefront, the FPS about a North Korean invasion of the US, has sold over a million copies worldwide since it came out on March 15. The game shipped over 2.4 million units, so there's still a ways to go, but a million-selling game can hardly be called anything but a success.
“We are very pleased with strong worldwide shipments and sell-through for Homefront, and we continue to fulfill new retail orders for the game across the globe,” said Brian Farrell, THQ President and CEO. “Homefront is clearly resonating with gamers and we are certainly pleased with our initial sales results.”
Homefront's sales are encouraging for a few reasons. First, because a "core" game with good sales will hopefully encourage THQ to continue making more "serious" games for the hardcore. And secondly, because this could mean a sequel.
If you'd watched this week's Feedback, you'd know that I love Homefront like the Kim Jong-Il loves Hennessy, and I'm praying that a sequel will expand the game's loopy, over-the-edge hysterics across the pacific and allow gamers to travel into North Korea itself! Can you imagine the kind of levels one could create in Pyongyang's Ryugyong Hotel?
What do you guys think about Homefront?

Have not played it yet. But, a million copies says something in just a few weeks after release. So, a second game wouldn't be out of the question hopefully with a longer 1 player experience.

Might buy it then. That means the multiplayer will be full and THATS what I like to hear.

i have 3 gripes on homefront 1.campaigns too short
2.hacked leaderboards and multiplayer
3.the dedicated servers kind of suck no offnce long wait times and always getting disconnected even on a wired 54mbps connection open NAT

Congrats THQ. But now I have to ask if you folks are pulling a "2k Mafia 2" by release a third of a game at full price. At least there is a multiplayer. Also since I don't like FPS I might pick this up when it hits $20.
But I feel bad for those that spent $60 on this.

@426Hemihead-that part got me too. That was really brutal. I liked the game though. The story has promise, and I hope they give the sequel a nice, long development cycle and polish things up a bit graphically and beef up the campaign length a bit.

Singleplayer was short as hell.... finished it in 2 1/2 hrs.... loved the story hope there is more to come on that part.... Multiplaye is not my thing but it had its ups and downs..... over all THQ could have waitted a bit longer so they could have added to the Singleplayer....

Just had to mention its Dreamcast quality visuals.

this and MoH are proof that any mediocre military FPS will sell well regardless of how good iit is..

I was really let down I followed that game for a while, and the only thing that game did was give me this image I can not get out of my head. The part at the begining where the two parents are killed right in front of their little son, Thanks THQ that kids cry sounded so real and having kids (2 boys) made me never want to play thru that level again.

im gonna get it but only because Veil of Maya has a song on the soundtrack

Not surprised. Crappy campaign but the MP is definitely refreshing.

I just wish the single player was a little more realistic.

the game had so much promise but they sold it short on the single player aspect considering they marketed it as a great single player experience. nowadays if your in the military FPS market it pays to have a good multi-player so thats a given of sorts.

The game is great, short enjoyable single player. The multiplayer is fun with some new elements. Everyone should pick this game up, they have plenty of places to go for a sequel, if they get one.

I loved the game! The single player story was short but it had a certain appeal that made it really enjoyable. The multiplayer is fantastic the drones are great if you have a team that works together. The vehicles are strong without being overpowered. The maps provide great variety and the weapons while nothing new are well balanced. One complaint is that you can't put attachments on your snipers. The new spin on domination is fun and makes the games alot less one sided as they can be in other games. A great game and there is room for improvement for a sequel, if they get one it will be interesting what they do with it.

I'm glad to read that. Homefront is really a underrated game. Yeah, the single player campaign could have been better, and a sequel would mean a second chance for the story. The multiplayer is undoubtedly the best aspect of the game.

Im willing to bet a large number of those were already traded in. Single player campaign that only lasts for 4 hours on Hard with zero replay value is not going to stick around in most homes.

Was not impressed - its going back to gamefly unfinished.
