Multi-platform (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, Wii) movie tie-in game Captain America: Super Soldier has a release date. You'll be able to throw your mighty, Captain America shield beginning on July 19. Then, that Friday, July 22, you can catch the Captain America movie in your local mega-plex. This is what we call "synergy."
In the screenshot above, Cappy is about to lay into a trio of unlucky Nazis! That's what I call war-time excitement!
So, you've clicked the "Read More" tag because you'd like to know more about the Captain America movie tie in game? Okay, I'll see what I can do. How about this: The developer is Sega. The player will control Captain America, throwing his shield, solving puzzles, and scaling walls. Captain America will use free-flow and acrobatic combat to defeat his foes, like Iron Cross, the forces of HYDRA, and Red Skull.
Most importantly, though, every time I read the title of this game, I think it should be called "Captain America: Souper Soldier" and should be a game about an Army cook who takes command of the mess hall to create the most delicious dinner possible for his platoon. With his trusty cohorts Split-Pea (a diminutive Irishman) and Matzoh Ball (A Jewish soldier), the player must toil over his tureen in order to prove the adage that an "army travels on its stomach."
I am an eternal optimist, so I think this game will be awesome! But it's a movie-tie in game, so adjust your expectations accordingly.

@Hellfire87 - Yeah, developers/producers are idiots sometimes. What they should do is make a good quality game, but with only one-third or one-half the length of a regular game. That would meet the time restraints. Then sell it for 20 or 30 bucks accordingly as a downloadable game on XBLA and/or PSN. This could still bring in hefty profits.

it would be a tight game, but its made by sega, and we all know sega sucks when it comes to making a comic related game.

I have mixed feelings on this game because I want it to be good and by all indications they are following the model set forth in Batman: Arkham Asylum so it should be good but at the same time it is a movie tie-in so their is no incentive for me to play for the story aspect because I'm just gonna go see the movie.
In the end I won't be buying this just because I'll take the story in the movie over the random expansion about it in the game. But I do feel a bit of sympathy for this game because if the movie follows the comic book canon following WWII (if you don't know it look at wikipedia, no reason to spoil the movie ending for those that don't) then they don't have a chance for an original story like what we got in Batman: AA.

I have some mixed feelings about this. It could be really good, because I think that a Captain America could be a really fun action game if it is done correctly, but because it is a movie tie-in game the developers will probably rush through making it so that it can be release by June 19th, which will probably mean it will have some bad gameplay.

And it will fly off the shelves....into the garbage.

haha another movie tie in game, will these game companies ever learn and put out something good for a change. The only one that was any good was the latest wolverine game.

It looks like 2011 is in for it's usually amount of really low budget video games. Captain America totally sucked as a comic book hero, and will do the very same in his upcoming debut in this video game.
It appears that originality is a scarce commodity in the world of video games. Once the industry has exhausted every comic book hero, they luckily still have several Looney Toon Characters still available to exploit but what happens when these characters are finally all exhausted ?
Well it's a good thing for them, they always have good old Sally Wong around for excellent direction and advise.
I'd like to recommend to all these new and very dull creative concept developers of today, all adopt the old concept that was used daily by all the twisted minds that use to dwell in the basement at Double Fine.
Two hours before you start your work day, you simply take two hits of really great blotter acid, and don't be shy about spiking it up during the day, with a few quarts of your favourite booze.
It's simply not enough to just think outside of the box these days, but when you both mentally and physically become the box ( compliments of the California blotter acid thats readily available ) , you will simply be amazed by the billions of new light year ideas that will constantly flood and flash through that old noggin everyday.
