Square Enix has just revealed that the company's out-there shooter Gun Loco, announced back August, has been canceled.
This game was always a bit of a head-scratcher, with its weirdo style and art, but when you add in the fact that it was in development at a house known for creating RPGs instead of shooters, it's even stranger that it ever existed at all. Of course, many, many great games have come out of inexplicable ideas, and I'd much rather game companies cancel more mundane games than something like this, which would have at least been amusing.
So, I'm a little sad. No Gun Loco. But, hey, check out the video below for a glimpse at what could have been:

It never looked good because it's a Japanese developer doing what Japanese developers do worst. Make western games. Japan, you kept your woman cute. Keep your games the same.

The people who were financing it must have finally got around to watching the trailer. BTW, any game getting canceled sucks, unless the game is based on a movie.

Had no interest in buying this game and looked like someone who was on crack had this idea.. Glad they got smart and canceled it

Honestly I thought Square was trying to appease to the stereotypical American gamer. I rather they make good games then what they think Americans want to play.

It looked like a goofy Japanese take on FPSs something closer to Borderlands or Brink in style (going for art style rather than realism)...Shame, could have had potential depending on how they spun it (though maybe Bulletstorm & Duke Nukem already did all the campy fun stuff with the genre?)....
