According to an article in Variety, Sony's Screen Gems has purchased the film rights to Capcom's Devil May Cry series. Screen Gems is the company behind the successful box office Resident Evil movies, another one of Capcom's properties. Kyle Ward has been hired to write the script, and already has a videogame movie script under his belt from when he penned Kane & Lynch over at Lionsgate. Details on the DMC movie are slim, but we do know that it will follow Dante, the hunk pictured above, avenging his mother's death by killing a ton of demons.

The majority of you are morons. They aren't going to use the "DMC" Dante. They will use the original.
Also it will most likely be rated R.
I don't understand why people are saying it'll be like Twilight. Why would they try to make an already very popular franchise cater to an entire new fan base. It's idiotic.
Also for Resident Evil/Devil May Cry game fans complaining just be happy that they're actually going to make the movie about Dante and not just give him a cameo in the 4th one. Although Milla Jovovich was gorgeous as Alice.
Also If it does take off I really hope Nero will be in one of them, he's great!

if they do make it i hope they follow the storyline at least. look at the the dragonball movie. it doesnt even follow the story and messed everything up.

I personally Think it would be epic if the follow the original games and dont try to westernize it like with the re image of the new DMC game. Also if they get the right actors to play the parts cuz i remember back in the day in game informer they had a section where they would come up with their own casts for movies and personally i can see colin ferrel as dante. but he might be too old now but if they can get the right set of actors to play the parts and dont get a director like michael bay to do it it won't be horrible but they key is that they need to follow the lore of devil may cry and actually play the games all they way through so they know what their doing and actually talk to the people who worked on they game so they get a good feel on everything and maybe soem fan imput as well cuz the fans know what they want and i wanna see a kick ass in ur face gun slinging sword fighting halfdemon kicking ass like in the first and second games....im sorry i didnt play the fourth one but i think it might be a good movie if they play their cards right and actually know their stuff

I've always wanted this to happen, but now i want it to go away =(. Please, dont stary away from the storyline! PLEAAAAAAAASSSSSEE!!!! i'll keep saying this over and over, dont do what resident evil did and twist the whole story around, do what silent hill did and adapt the game to film with minor tweaks and necesary changes.

Not to get into a movie debate. Well yeah I think I WILL get into one. But I personally liked the Resident Evil movies. And people are always like, "It was nothing like the game!" Well none of them were based on the games. They were basically spin offs with the main concept of Resident Evil zombies. If you wanted a movie based exactly on the game, why not just play the game? The Resident evil Movies are like the Resident Evil: Outbreak games. Not necessary but interesting and fun. So like the movie for the movie and the game for the game.
With the Devil May Cry movie they can't do the same thing they did with resident evil because it is too original. You can't just put Dante in some movie without any of the actual storyline from the game. And unless they just mess up the casting and writing this movie won't be half bad.
It's like BioShock will probably be like Resident Evil because they can take any kind of story and put it in Rapture. I'm not saying that's a GOOD idea. That's just how Hollywood works these days.

only if Rueben Langdon plays Dante :) ,nothing sparkles,and its rated R they definately need to bring Vergil in as the bad guy at least for now.and sony needs to keep the people from the RE movies away from it.RE one wasnt bad but man they went downhill quickly after that..

What's wrong with you guys? Anyone who thinks the Resident Evil movies were anything but terrible has poor taste in films. Ok sure, the first and second ones weren't that bad solely as movies, but all of them as Resident Evil films should never have been made. They were awful and did not follow the Resident Evil storyline at all. Hence, the Devil May Cry films are more than likely going to be as bad. If you're going to make a movie based off a video game, or anything for that matter, don't change the storyline. Who are you to twist an original storyline/idea and call it your own? Especially when you deem it the same title. It's absurd, I would've had no problem if they had advertised the RE films as just "based on the RE video game series" and called them something else. But the fact that they named them RE and changed a lot is disgraceful to Capcom, and the creators of RE. I say no more video game movies unless they stay true to the storyline. Not have some completely made up character who is totally irrelevant to the storyline, and has psychic abilities who can kill massive amounts of enemies with telekinesis and fire...
