Since the countdown clock with a Modern Warfare-esque font and sounds first appeared on FindMakarov.com, more pieces of information have slowly trickled out. First, Activision released a statement that claimed the thing was a hoax. Today, various sites have been reporting that the whole thing is actually a project of a Toronto-based production house called We Can Pretend, which has a few samples of their previous work on their website. The most interesting one is a video called "Occupation." which is well worth watching (the Doritos Tablet is funny as well).
We reached out to FindMakarov.com, and through them we've heard from a source who is actually one of the owners of We Can Pretend, and while they didn't reveal exactly what is going on with the site, which was recently updated to a new red look complete with a sweeping radar and the same countdown, it is obvious that we'll know more later this week.
Additionally, they provided us with an exclusive image from the project, which you can check out after the break. It's clearly from a live-action video, and presents a scene that looks familiar to those of us who have played Modern Warfare 2. Is this related to a sequel? Is it a company seizing a good opportunity for self-promotion? One thing is for sure: it's highly doubtful that this is some sort of viral surprise reveal for Battlefield 3, because I doubt any publisher would go this deep into a rival's game backstory.
At any rate, we'll have more information for you this week, so stay tuned.

What does it all mean?

Thats when soap mactivish got hit by sheperd and when he was crawling to get the gun

This sounds crazy, but what if it was a 'Real' movie. Like a theatre one, on the big screen. That would be awesome.

Whether you like the game/publisher/developers or not there is no denying that while short the story of both Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 was good so a live action movie based on said story would be well received by people like myself who actually finished the game instead of only playing online....
Oh and for clarification I could care less about Infinity Ward/Respawn Ent. I've always liked Treyarch better anyway.
true.man
it's the ending of modern warfare 2.

the white "splotch" in the background is a burred black and white version of the above image
humanweapon20
its soap mactavish in the mw2 ending
NukaColaClear
I meant the picture, not the site.

That is Soap's Hand reaching for the gun at the end of MW2, which a live-action short film will bridge the gap for to lead to MW3.

And as you people can see, it now has a new look http://findmakarov.com/. Heartbeat with a screech sound with a white splosh-static background.

Well, that map behind the radar is like Africa, South America and Asia without any of the other contents, and the red dots just happen to be on Eurasia and the Middle East, that is unless the map is moved to the right, and those red dots are on North America, and the continents I stated before are flipped, then it only leads me to think...... Eurasia + Middle East = MW2..... North America = Homefront, and possibly Battlefield 3...... now let's see here people, it can just be the film, or any of these listed possibilities. I would damn right be surprised if it's that "Call of Duty killer" everyone was talking about late last week. Mmmmm, delicious mysteries, I have a feeling it can be Battlefield 3, but why would they do this? The answer is the question, they want people asking that, hype-making gold. I have to say, if it is the film, it would be fairly disappointing.

I noticed that... it's not an m4 in the distance, it's sheppard's .44 magnum. and for all those that say mw2 sucked, that's just silly. MW2 was one of the best games ever made, now blackops on the other hand.... well; treyarch should stay out of it... it's a damn shame that the Infinity Ward fiasco went down the way it did
meatler69
Its at the end of the game during the fight with Shepherd, obviously. How has no one noticed that?

Call of Duty's last "good" game in the series was World at War in my opinion. Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops were both awful in my opinion.
Not to mention that at the moment, I personally love to play Killzone 3, Medal of Honor, and Battlefield 1943. Why would I need another half-assed CoD game?

if this is MW3, the potheads win

it means we are spared from a horrible sequel to a horrible franchise. it stopped being fun after 2. and modern warfare 1 was ok
martymar82
Screw Call of Duty I'm so bored of it. This game has one of the worst online communities ever, its full of hackers, modders and 10 year old kids screaming in your ear. I thought Black Ops was supposed to crack down on the cheating going on, oh well.
