In a brief post on Battlefield 3's official message board, DICE Global Battlefield Community Manager Daniel Matros revealed the four maps from 2005's Battlefield 2 that will be available in the "Back to Karkand" map pack that comes with the game at launch, if you pre-order it. Here are your retro-multiplayer maps:
- Wake Island,
- Strike at Karkand,
- Gulf of Oman
- Sharqi Peninsula
No comment on whether any other older maps will be coming back from the dead.

These older maps have been updated with Battlefield 3's Frostbite 2 engine, and will have upgraded "physics, destruction and visuals." The pack will have Battlefield 2 weapons, vehicles, and achievements/trophies.

This should make up for those horrible VIP map packs and that gun you get after like 5 games that you would get for pre ordering Bad Company 2. Don't get me wrong I love the game but that was BS how it took until VIP pack 7 to finally release something barely new, At lease Vietnam is good but that last MP update they came out with screwed up the original.

I cannot wait till the Game Developer's Conference when DICE and EA will show some actual whole gameplay of Battlefield 3, not just some teaser bits. This WILL be the game that removes the "multiplayer crown of FPS" off of COD's head.

If Battlefield 3 is just (if not more) awesome as Battlefield 2 and BFBC2, I hope you guys at G4 don't forget to nominate it for best multiplayer in 2011, just to make way for another Call of Duty game.

You have to pre order the game to get this dlc. I saw it over at EA's website.

You can pre-order online at Gamestop, all you have to do for an in-store pick-up is bring a copy of your receipt or your Driver's License/state ID.
