Battlefield 3 is a having a great day. First, EA gave up a Battlefield 3 gameplay trailer and now we have details on BF3 pre-order bonuses. The trailer shows off in game action and confirms we can expect to see the game at the end of this year.
Not sure what to make of the trailer? This is the game's official description. "In Battlefield 3, players step into the role of the elite U.S. Marines. As the first boots on the ground, players will experience heart-pounding missions across diverse locations including Paris, Tehran and New York. As a U.S. Marine in the field, periods of tension and anticipation are punctuated by moments of complete chaos. As bullets whiz by, as walls crumble, as explosions force players to the ground, the battlefield feels more alive and interactive than ever before." Sold yet?

Battlefield 3 pre-orders will include a digital expansion pack called Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand. The expansion is specifically for multiplayer and will include four legendary maps from 2005's Battlefield 2. You're not being given old maps though, they've all been updated with Battlefield 3's engine Frostbite 2 and will have upgraded "physics, destruction and visuals." The pack will have Battlefield 2 weapons, vehicles, and achievements/trophies.
Pre-orders will only be available for a limited time or while supplies last.
Get ready for Battlefield 3 on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall.

I hate it when I get on G4 to simply watch a video, mostly pertaining to Call of Duty or Battlefield, and all I see it bitter arguing about which game is better. I play CoD almost every day, and my neighbor and good friend plays Battlefield almost every day. I have played both games ALOT and it is a horrible thing to even compare these games. Yes, they are both FPS but not even close to the same thing. It's like comparing GOW to GTA4 or something. They are both amazing games in their own way. I am sometimes in the mood to play CoD and sometimes in the mood to play Battlefield. I know I just typed this whole thing for basically no purpose but oh well... AND QUIT BICKERING CHILDREN!

From forum surfing regarding this game I know they are still using the destructible environment concept from BF:BC2. This video doesn't even show that... let alone just about anything else about the game.
Funny that the title includes 'gameplay'. I'm sure a touch of the footage from the video is gameplay but I didn't see a single HUD element so you know its not raw, its been edited and chopped all to hell for this teaser.
The graphics look good anyway... now tell me something about the ACTUAL gameplay. How static is multiplay customization? How restricted are the different combat roles? Are there jets/boats? Or just helicopters and tanks/jeeps still?
WILL I BE ABLE TO LAY DOWN AND GO PRONE!? I need to know!

So a 45s trailer that barely shows anything is enough for you to run to a local video game store to pre-order? I have optimism for the franchise but seriously... It won't sell anything like a CoD and I have a feeling the MP will lack like every Battlefield game on the console. Not sucking on the CoD teet, I honestly can't stand how bad the netcode is in that game, but i don't see CoD having any worries about Battlefield. I read the Game Informer article and it definitely intrigued me so I'll wait and see how this baby turns out. Rental for me so far.
