The first DLC for Dead Space 2 has a release date. You'll be able to play "Severed" on March 1 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The DLC will add two complete chapters to the game, and you'll play as Dead Space: Extraction's main character, Gabe Weller. Here's the official description of the plot:
"This digital pack will take players through the haunting story of Gabe Weller, who fans will remember from the award-winning game Dead Space Extraction. As a security officer, Weller comes equipped with a one-of-a-kind security suit and an upgraded, more powerful Pulse Rifle that will help him unleash his own blood-curdling adventure across the Sprawl. Lurking behind every corner is another bloodthirsty monster but the big surprise for Weller (and fans) is the return of the Twitcher, a grotesque enemy who first appeared in the original Dead Space game."
You'll also be able to get some extra downloadable goodies for Isacc, apart from the new levels. Here's the descriptions of what's available:

Too bad you can't buy 560 MS points for $6.99. Why do they gotta make you buy points to buy content? Why can't we just pay $6.99 for the content instead of buying more MS points than we want/need? Oh yeah, so Microsoft can get more money...

I would have rather had a larger chunk of content for $15+, but this will have to do. Hopefully they have some more plans for DLC too.

Thank you, Visceral.

I want to see how their story plays out. I hope this DLC says what happened to Nate, since none of the press releases state anything. I REALLY hope the necro wasn't him.

7 dollars for two chapters. Man whats with EA doing this lately? The thing that really sucks, is that I'll buy it anyway because the game is awesome and i'm blood-thirsty for more
