Diablo 3 console rumors are escalating. Blizzard has posted a job listing for a "Senior Producer, Console Diablo 3." The position is obviously fueling more rumors that Diablo 3 will be released for the consoles. The job description specifically asks for someone with " prior experience in console game development." Blizzard however assures gamers, "this is not an announcement of a console title."
Just last week at DICE 2011 Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime rekindled rumors about Diablo 3's potential on the consoles by saying, "I think you could make an argument that a game like Diablo might play very well on a console." "It's something that we're actually doing an investigation into to see if that could make sense," he concluded. Based off this job listing, it sounds like they're doing more than "investigating."
Many Diablo fans are worried this development will mean the long awaited title will take even longer. A Blizzard spokesperson told VG247 not to worry, “Please note that this is not an announcement of a console title. We are first and foremost developing Diablo III for Windows and Mac PCs and don’t intend to allow any possibility of a console interpretation to delay or affect the release of the game.” Diablo 3 doesn't have a release date; we all have our fingers crossed for 2011. If the game is delayed, will we even know?
While the Dialbo series has always been PC based, it has seen life on consoles. Diablo 1 was released on the PS1 in 1998.
If you do want to see Diablo 3 on the Xbox 360 or PS3(I'm going to go ahead and assume they aren't considering the Wii) how much longer are you willing to wait?
