The next Left 4 Dead 2 DLC pack will be created by the community. The creator of the popular L4D map "2 Evil Eyes," Matthew Lourdelet, has been working on a community campaign called Cold Stream. Valve was impressed with his progress on Cold Stream and approached him about including it in the an upcoming DLC pack. Instead of helping Lourdelet finish the map Valve has asked the community to help: "We want you the community to be part of the process of taking his unfinished campaign and releasing it as DLC on the Xbox 360, PC and Mac."
- RATING: Left 4 Dead 2 Review
Cold Stream needs your help for completion, but before Valve releases it to the public they had to set ground rule[s]. Since The Passing and Survival were story based maps, they want their next DLC pack to be all action. Rule 1: No new voice acting, audio or story elements. More rules will be addressed as they come up.
The DLC pack will also include the three remaining maps from Left 4 Dead 1. A name and release date for the DLC maps won't be announced until Cold Stream is completed, and that depends on you. Yes, you.
"We like to not constrain ourselves by either, so at this point we are willing to say - “Let’s not set a date yet, we’ll know better later.” Of course, that is also why the concept of Valve Time exists but later you will see why “Valve Time” is a good thing, not a bad thing."
Do you like the idea of the community creating content?

I like this and hate it at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I like that we can go online and download as many community maps that we want, and I like that Valve recognizes those who do make those maps, but there is something about Valve maps that seems cleaner. I guess I just don't like community maps as much as everyone else does. I hope this DLC proves me wrong. Also, bringing the other maps into L4D2 is great and everything, but how about some love for L4d1? It's still a great game and it has a better horror feel to it. If we could get the Parish, Dead Center, and Dark Carnival in there, that would be sweet.
