Hello readers, and welcome to another edition of Feedback, aka your favorite weekly video game web show. This week’s episode finds host Adam Sessler and panelists Kevin “Dices” Kelly and Jake “Comp” Gaskill on location in Las Vegas for this year’s DICE summit. There were a ton of fascinating discussions and panels held throughout last week, but since you couldn’t be there with us, we decided to put together a little roundup of some of the best, and strangest, things we saw and heard at this year’s summit.

We also had the privilege of having former Electronic Arts chief creative officer, industry legend, and winner of this year’s Interactive Achievement Award’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Bing Gordon, stop by to discuss where he sees the industry heading in the coming years, his current role working with social network gaming giant Zynga, and why he decided to write a poem for his IAA award acceptance speech.

Feedback -- DICE Summit 2011 Highlights »

Feedback: Dicing dicey DICE dice since DICE dice were first diced at DICE.

    Great show.
I need to get a tablet to play your show around the house. The time length of the show is a bit of a time commitment to watch on my pc, but I understand why so many fans want the show to be longer.
    Big fan

i really really would like to see them make a better Beer Pong Kinects game. One that you can play online against friends from other states. Go around the country and get different rules that you can turn on like "on fire", bounce, etc.. Anything better then Game in Motions : ping cup which doesn't follow any rules at all. It would be a great social game, if only someone would take the time on it so that it performs like other kinect games

To answer the question posed in Feedback about Kinect and what one might be looking forward to next: How about Child of Eden? I missed Rez when it first came out, but I became a big fan of Rez HD. So CoE was instantly on my radar. The idea of using Kinect controls, even if they might be a touch more sluggish than a standard controller, is definitely appealing. So yeah, motion control devices like Kinect need someone to step up and embrace them to show their full potential, but at least I can think of one game worth looking forward to.

Before Skyrim was announced, I kept hoping that the next Elder Scrolls game would make good use of Kinect. Except for walking around the world, the game just screams motion interactivity. Everything from talking with the npc's to the full range of motions used in combat to spell casting (both the gestures and/or perhaps spoken words) would just fit perfectly for the most true RPG experience of the motion gaming generation.

Of course to make a npc conversation engine that talks, understands and can respond in a lively fashion with differing personality templates would be a monumental undertaking. But once the core engine was built, it would be some pretty slick tech that could be shopped around if a studio was of a mind to do such a thing (Basically it would be up to either Bethesda or Lionhead).

The toxic environment that these posts bring to G4 and its website will eventually make all the talent leave. Some of you out there must have no moral fiber within your bodies. I'm not a shining example of morality, but I know when I should hit the backspace on my keyboard.
I guess my question to all the haters out there would be. If you care so little for G4, its employees, and the content that they produce, why do you even come here???

First Pat now Abb. They had great chemistry with Sess and made Feedback fun to watch. They could carry their own along with Adam and give great viewpoints and opinions to complement or counter adam. Without them now, it will be interesting to see who replaces them or if it will just be a revolving door with Adam at the center.

I really don't know who the guest was or Zynga. Yes that makes me a noob on terms of videogame industry of who is who and what they did but to be honest was pretty lost on the second half of feedback.

As for feedbacks length it is short but would you rather have no feedback or a short one??

What I love about DICE is that small, indie developers like myself are able to learn and gain insight as to what some of the big names are doing, and then maybe innovate where they are NOT going.

I don't usually comment (think I said that on the Jane McGonigal thread) but this Feedback just resonated with me for this reason. I don't know why...but I haven't been able to play games lately. It's like they're all...meh. Too many cookie cutter games. Minecraft rejuvenated my playing habits.

DICE this year has really lifted my spirits, and we (our team consists of 3 xD) are coming of with crazy ideas now. The stories of "yes" with Chuck Jones really inspired me as well.

As for "nobody is willing to take that first step", I've really learned that this is the age of independent developers. Everyone is saying how well Facebook games are doing (rightfully so, they're doing great) but indie games are really taking the scene, although in a quiet manner. Games like Minecraft, Desktop Dungeons, and websites like Kongregate and Newgrounds are teeming with talent.

As for games are art...I agree, but they're not like other art forms. The interactivity of our industry is what make it unique...that no one's experience is exactly the same. The general public lacks seeing our industry as an art form because they haven't sat down and interacted with games we consider to be "classics" of the last two generations. Key words being last two, because most people don't see Mario or other classic games as having a plot.

Anyways, thanks for the Feedback. Rant is over now, I promise.
