A municipal court in Philadelphia heard the confession yesterday of Kendall Anderson, a 16 year-old who will stand trial for the murder of his mother over a Playstation system.
According to his confession, on the evening of Thanksgiving, Anderson argued with his mother, Rashida Anderson, for an hour and a half, an argument that culminated in Rashida confiscating the boy's PlayStation. In response, Kendall waited until Rashida was asleep and then attacked her with a claw hammer, delivering over 20 blows, beating his own mother to death her bed.
"I couldn't stand the arguing," The youth's confession reads.
Later, in an attempt to dispose of the body, Anderson dragged the corpse down to the kitchen, where he attempted to cremate her in the oven. That (obviously) failed, so Anderson smashed her corpse in the head with a chair leg, and eventually hid her body outside in an alley under some debris.
"If I could, I would not do it again," Anderson's confession reads. "I really miss my mom . . . she was the only person who cared for me."
The grand jury decided Anderson to stand trial for murder, possession of an instrument of crime and abuse of corpse.

Critics and politicians are gonna use this case against gamers WHO actually care for their moms and know the difference between reality and GTA... sigh
austinthebookworm
what a tragic story... and what a messed up kid
InnerRise
Kill 'em and make me smile.

come on guys think, if this kid goes to prison and if the other inmates catch drift of how he got in their 90% of them are going to kick his ass probably killing him

How sad that kids become so obsessed over video games. I know that I get a little upset when my dad kicks me off the tv once and a while, but I'd never go to that extreme. It's a sad story and feel for Anderson for the loss of his mom, but he brought it on himself by letting his anger and frustration dictate his actions.

Stop! Hammertime.
lol...im going to hell.

This is just awful. I can see it now though, someone somewhere is going to blame video game violence on this. This was a simple case of a crazy person (kid) not getting his way.
DeadSkies
Blame rap, it makes stupid kids even more stupid. It's no coincidence that 91% of all violent crime in America is committed by some worthless scum that listens to rap.

there had to have been a lot of circumstances for that kid to do what he did. just the sound of him arguing with his mother, having his PS3 taken away, and killing her is like its missing some emotional info. what i can guess iz that kid has a bad video game addition. when i was younger and would have to go without game it would drive mee kinda nuts. a friend of mine's little boy throws the biggest fits when he had to get of his WIi.
what i take from what the kid did was that he was a spoiled little brat and a serious video gaming addict. and after he did what he did and it sat in he paniced, and did something so stupid like trying to put her in the oven. it was probably electric, too

I agree that his actions speak louder than anything else. It's one thing to kill, it's an entire other thing to be consciously aware that he'd get in trouble for it. Besides, it says a lot he chose to try to get rid of her in ways that included him having to disfigure the corpse. Those actions are going to haunt him during his inevitable trial. It makes insanity harder to prove when he was obviously in the 'right' mind enough to know he had to get rid of evidence.
I don't approve of the death penalty for anyone (and am glad I'm in a state that outlawed it), but I hope he gets a nice chunk of jail time. I wouldn't want someone like this walking the streets.

There has to be more to the story. I'll wait for further developments though. I wonder what psychological tests of the child would reveal.

Damn, the cops ruined his killstreak. You gotta give him credit though a lot of kids threaten their parents if they turn off their console or something and this kid stood his ground.
coldenhas
wow... people like this bring a bad rap to gamers.
Drakbak
While many would claim video games caused him to be violent, I would argue that he was inherently violent and that the video games gave an outlet for such behavior.

This makes me sick to my stomach... I can hardly believe it.
I may actually start to cry.
Screw the PlayStation element of the story; the boy killed his own mother... that is beyond horrible!
He had to have problems upstairs to begin with but even still, there's no excuse.
Ryupyroa
Seriously? I give Fox News a day to blame this on Bulletstorm.

"I really miss my mom . . . she was the only person who cared for me."
Wtf? Did anyone else notice something off about this statement?
Straight Noobin
That's just shocking. I cannot believe someone would do such a thing to their mom. Forget the gaming crap, it goes beyond that. Don't kill your mom.
mr8inchesbig
only on ps3
Kaisenex
Death penalty is too extreme imo....life in prison would be better....being locked in .and thinking about what he did that day will haunt him for the rest of his life...
