Ubisoft plans to release a new installment in its Assassin’s Creed franchise sometime before March 31, 2012. And, no, it is not Ubisoft's previously announced Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy 3D coming to the Nintendo 3DS.
As CVG reports, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said during an investor call today that more details will be revealed in May, but he was willing to say that the next AC would be a “packaged title,” and it will be released “this year.” When asked for clarification, a Ubisoft rep told me Guillemot was referring to Ubisoft’s next fiscal year, not the 2011 calendar year.
This may in fact mean we will see a new AC by year’s end, since this period extends from April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012, however Ubisoft said back in July that AC would be taking a breather in 2011, so I guess we’ll see.
Honestly, I would be shocked (if pleasantly surprised) if Ubisoft decided to officially announce in May that AC3 was coming out this holiday season (all previous console AC titles have released in November), a mere seven months before the end of the year, but crazier things have happened. I mean, Stephen Johnson just went downstairs to get a salad. Everything is permitted!
In other AC news, Ubisoft also announced today that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has now sold over 6.5 million units. Well done there.

Great BUT they have 2 add a modern adventure in the serise adventually dont they? i want 2 kill people in the present with old school swords and new-age firearmes. amagin stelth killing a man with hidden blades in NYC or LA. motercycles could b horses, now that thay kno where 2 find somthing thay go 4 it, find it and use it 2 kill modern templars. or atleast a DLC of the present ,eh?

I love Assassin's Creed �best video game franchise ever. But I think Ubisoft needs to hold off until 2012 for AC3. I would rather have a great game in 2012 than something that is rushed and potentially not as good in 2011. Take your time Ubisoft �don't release AC3 until it is ready.

Holy cow i like how they are just putting these out like crazy its nice becuase that game is more for story line so I mean that great for me but the assassin on the cover looks kind of like a female so that might be the new assassins just guessing

maybe in new york...instead of falling in hay stacks...you fall on hot dog stands with umbrellas....i hope they wait and make sure the game is perfect before release.

As long as they don't Call of Duty this franchise I'm good. I am curious as to what they have planned. But I think this series deserves a rest. Maybe til 2012. I'm thinking it's an announcement about AC3. Hopefully for 2012
