Mirror's Edge 2 has been canceled, according to a report on Swedish site Press 2 Play TV.
The translated news:
"Patrick [Soderlund - EA driving and shooting game boss] acknowledges that Mirror's Edge didn't match up to their expectations regarding sales, and that has stopped the sequel that has been in development," declared the report, published originally in December. "EA was shown a prototype, but declined with askance. The project has been stopped - involved parties at DICE are working on something else now. Patrick himself seems to have Mirror's Edge near his heart, but they are not in the business of charity."
According to EA's prez John Ritccitello back in December 2009, first-person running game Mirror's Edge "deserved" a sequel, although, if this report is to believed, it's not going to happen.

People ive talked to about Mirrors Edge shut it out cause they say its just a stupid First-Person Runner, and would rather play COD or something, but Mirrors Edge was an amazing game, and is still my #1 favorite. Its a real bummer a sequel got dropped...

Why does this allways happen? Mirror's Edge was a masterpeice, it gave the user a first person view of movement that was fresh and new. It had a go story line, and interesting characters. But the thing that stood out the most was the visuals. Absolutely Eye Opening... The colors were bright and popped out at you. Just imagine if the next one that was in developement was 3D compatible? Who knows it could have been! But we'll never know now because they decided to pull the plug on the darn thing... I have one suggestion to developers..... and that is DON'T tell consumers about a project thats in developement and get us all hyped up and excited, then drop a bomb like this on people who are waiting for it to come out. If you have a green light for publishing it for sales and ready to go out the door, then tell the consumer that it's coming...

I hope that they re-consider, Mirror's Edge, though shorter than I would have liked, was an amazing game though and through! Don't give up on such an awesome title!!!

C'mon. Mirror's Edge got at least a 4 out of 5. Like what others are saying, bring out a sequel would (hopefully being better) get them more money. Plus, Mirror's Edge was a One Of A Kind game. There is no other game like it out there.

If it's about the money required to distribute, make it DLC. If it's about content, look to the community that embraced it for guidance. There is a much larger story to be told and if EA is unwilling to bring it to the console then maybe a smart TV exec at G4 will be willing to take on some scripted action programing. I loved the fact that this is an original IP with amazing potential. Away from the mire of the dirt and grime, away from the He-Man testosterone that seems to soak all FPS's, and away to a peaceful bliss of action that rewards the player for not using a gun. I really enjoyed the game and it is one of the few I bought new, hell I even pre-ordered it for the snazzy messenger bag that I still use. To see this franchise die, is truly saddening and cannot be saved by a time-trial or speed run in my place of bliss.

EA is just a big mess. It's all about $$$$$ to them and nothing else. Don't worry folks the little guys will come back with better games in the end.

No! I would've pre-ordered for sure EA! Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games and I would love to see a fleshed out sequel with plenty more to do! That's just too bad; I really hope this isn't cancelled.

this is one of my favorite games of all time and i dont think ive ever been distraught over a game being canceled, but this, this really sucks. hopefully the report isnt true anyone know how to set up a web petition?

That really sucks! Mirror's Edge was an amazing game,one of my favorites in a very long time. I have been hopin for a sequel ever since it came out.

Mirror's Edge may not have been the best game but I really enjoyed playing it. Yes it had it's flaws but it was still a really unique take on FPS games. I really want this to be false because though the game wasn't perfect a sequel could easily fix the problems the first game had.
