Last night at DICE 2011, Mass Effect 2 won the game of the year award. (I'm sure you watched our amazing live-stream of the Interactive Achievement Awards, right?) But that got me thinking: My GotY was Red Dead Redemption, hands down. What about you? What game is your personal "of the Year?"

ME2 not only is it an excellently polished game over ME1 I think it has the best character Development. I hope this become the new Paradigm for RPG's no more ridiculous loot hoarding, and all those all tropes.

It all depends on what your qualifications are...
If you include DLC then Red Dead Redemption would prolly be GoTY from Undead Nightmare Alone (which I haven't played). But RDR Alone I wasn't too thrilled with (I kind of hate marston's voice, especially when I had to ride a horse 5 hours listening to some dialog I had no interest in)
I don't believe ME2 should be GoTY. I love ME1 and I'm a huge ME Universe Lover, ME2 was perhaps too drastic of a change from ME1 to be GOTY for me.
Other then RDR and ME2 I can't really recall any good games this year, not that they don't exist, I just can't think of them.
Maybe AC:B... I honestly really enjoyed that game and I LOVED the Assassin's you could call in to kill targets... I do wish there was more interaction or more customization you could do. Anyway I guess MAYBE mine would be AC:B... and I absolutely HATED AC1... (AC2 I felt was a vast Improvement).

Dead Rising 2.

Definitely Mass Effect 2. Love the world and the characters, plus the combat is strategic and fun. And there's loads of reasons to play again and again.

I didn't actually play RDR - I can't get many and it's just not my kind of game. ME2 for me, though there were plenty of other really good games.

Poor choice indeed. I've zero interest in ME2, we have enough run of the mill RPG's. And while there are a lot of recent games I haven't gotten to yet I did manage to complete RDR over the winter and it was a great game.

red dead was my goty. nothing would ever make me forget my first day online and finding myself in an 8 person posse of guys id never met before, ravaging the land and running from the law. mass effect 2 was overly hyped for me. didnt care for any of the characters and game play was soso.
TheSwampFox
Alan Wake was my personal favorite.

Red Dead Redemption was my personal favorite. I do not know if it was the best but was the one that excited me the most.

Heavy Rain

I don't think I could pick just one so I'll say:
God of War 3: It looked amazing.
Heavy Rain: I wasn't even sure I'd like it but it sucked me in with its suspense.
Enslaved: I loved the the world, Pigsy's comic relief, and the variation of the DLC.
Rock Band 3: Pro Drums!
JustTheBeginning
Probably Heavy Rain for me, Red Dead was great until the story went into Mexico which was completely repetitive and just dragged the story on.

For me its was a toss up between Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption. I would have liked some story DLC or something similar to GTA4's DLC for RDR but it was still a great game.

Hands Down .....RED DEAD REDEMPTION....not only is it the best game of last year but it easily get into my top 5 games of all time. From the story to the game play to the collections...it was Top notch. My only 2 gripes would be they should have gotten rid of the online component...total garbage and the voice of teenage Jack Martson...ugh.. I stopped hunting just so i wouldn't hear."Just like you thought me pa" anymore!!!

I would have to say assassins creed brotherhood is my game ofthe year. By far the best in the series, and it's the game I spent the most time playing from last year. In fact I'm still playing it.

Red Dead
- It brought back the Western genre to which a lot of people thought was dead
- Well written story and characters
-Online play was fun with multiplayer and co-op.
- An incredible added download with Undead Redemption.
Undead was more then an added content. It was completely a new game that was more then it cost.
It was an added bonus that was more the major icing on a well made cake.

Having played both, I would also have to say Red Dead. Both were epic though!!
I just think RDR was more polished game. There wasn't one thing I didn't like about it. Although with ME2 there was planet mining, UGH!!

I'd say Red Dead, but ME2 was awesome as well.
