Diablo 3 could one day see life on the consoles according to Blizzard Entertainment CEO Mike Morhaime. Yesterday during DICE Morhaime confirmed Blizzard was actively investigating whether or not Diablo 3 should get the console treatment, "I think you could make an argument that a game like Diablo might play very well on a console," he said. "It's something that we're actually doing an investigation into to see if that could make sense."
Diablo 1 came out on the PlayStation back in 1998; Diablo 2 never saw life outside the PC. Before you get your hopes too high Morhaime did note there were a "number of issues" that would have to be resolved before bringing the game from PC to consoles. Some of his obvious concerns were the implementation of patches and expansions.
