Infinity Ward: Activision Never Wanted Call of Duty To Go Modern

Beachhead Studios has been announced by game publisher Activison Blizzard. The studio will lead the production for online Call of Duty content. Their exclusive online content promises to "super charge the online experience." The studio will focus "on the delivery, digitally, of new, innovative Call of Duty content and services will enable tens of millions of players around the world to continue to enjoy the experience that Call of Duty offers." Activision is "not yet ready" to discuss what that means or give up any more information. Speculations?

There's no way there will be a COD MMO, no one would play it. All of the kids and non gamers don't even know what a MMO is, thus leading into a huge downfall. It wouldn't even make sense anyways. I'm cool for making the campaign and rpg, but not being a MMO.

Dude I don't see how they could ever do an online mmo style fps COD is has the worst net code out of any game I have EVER played. It has constant connection issues. I done with cod. I have not bought their over priced map packs. I will not buy their game next year.

"super charge the online experience (with a subscription fee)"
"the delivery, digitally, of new, innovative Call of Duty content and services (microtransactions) will enable tens of millions of players around the world to continue (if they pay) to enjoy the experience that Call of Duty offers."

i'm not bashing anyone here ! i am bashing the very idea of all of us who bashed cod mw2 for being broken and blops

everyone saying oh i'm done we are not buying anymore cod crap!!!!!!

but then we go out and make cod mw2 and blops the number 1 and number
2 best selling nedia entertainment of all time.

so is the problem them or is it us we complain but keep buying

only way to stop this from happening is to stop buying the games but you all will.

i have moved on this fall i will be playing battlefield 3 and currently im playing battlefield bad company 2.

so quit complaining about it and buying in to it cuz all your friends have it, move on or shut up , the only way to kill this monster is to stop feeding it.

It's actually a awesome marketing scheme to make money. I hate activision for whoring games till no one wants them but I admire their money making skills. and if you said MMO i agree with you. Once that's in place there is no need to make another COD game ever. Think WOW. Just patch it up and make expansions every so often and there's your new money tree.

So... it's safe to say that Black Ops is the last of the best then?

I just hope Treyarch, for Their sake, drop off from them immediately.

Basically sounds like they are going to have dlc made by a separate studio so the dev team can get right back to making another call of duty.

Soon we will have 2 call of dutys a year!

I cant wait til CoD is done with. While i love the franchise to death and there is no doubt that it will go down as one of the more important franchises in gaming history, i'm tired of it EVERY YEAR. It's like Madden now.

I always say this but i still buy just like all of you, but this year i think i'm done. I dont care how good they make it look or how amazing the multiplayer is or how awesome the single player is. I enjoy MW2 still and i think ill stick with that even when it becomes as desolate and empty as CoD 4.

Assassin's Creed is becoming like CoD as well but at least the storyline for that game is second to none...

I just wish that they would just chill with CoD and just make one big game out of it over like 3 years. They have enough money from all the current CoDs to hold out for 3 years. Develop a story that lasts for more than 5 hours and redevelop the multiplayer instead of using the same cookie cutter system since CoD 4 and adding a few extra perks. Truly balance it and perfect it. Upgrade the graphics so it looks somewhere in between Halo and Killzone.

There is a reason that Halo's story is so amazing or Killzone looks so perfect and that is because Bungie and Guerrilla REALLY commit to making their games completely amazing and near perfect and work on them until they are finished and not just acceptable. Activision is really killing a franchise that has all the potential in the world.

Hopefully Homefront is amazing and if it is i hope it doesnt get neglected by corporate greed.

HAHAHA so could see it becoming about the $$ Blizzards name is in here somewhere as far as activision goes. Shame on them. Well as much as I loved rocking every COD I am a gamer and a few words to some this up. Battle field 3 HomeFront Brink Crysis 2 Duke Nukem and the epics of epics to waste my life on SKYRIM. Not exactly a FPS but she will do oh yes she will.

If they implant subscription fees, everyone is going to flip them off and walk away.
