Tony Hawk: Ride Feet-On Preview

Activision confirmed they would not be publishing any skateboarding games in 2011. This is bad news for the Tony Hawk series and even worse news for the Tony Hawk Ride skateboard. This news comes just a week after it was confirmed that Tony Hawk: Shred outsold Ubisoft's Shaun White Skateboarding.

I liked American Wasteland, but after that, the games went downhill. Unintended pun there. Anyway, I think Skate is better, but I do not play Skate, because it is not available on PC and I refuse to pay for Xbox Live Gold just to play Skate every once in a while. Multiplayer gaming should not cost a monthly fee.

I still play THPS4 from time to time.

Activision needs to take Tony hawk back to it's roots, forget the skate series and Shawn white, there's lots of life left for the series if they go back to the over the top skateboarding games we all know and love with the great soundtracks and classic goals even if activision were to make thps 5 for XBLA that wold save them money right away, surely someone important is reading this do it and don't make it suck! The real fans love thps 1-4 and the thugs weren't horrible but pleease keep it simple

Good riddance. As much fun as I had playing Tony Hawk when the franchise first hit the market I'm glad to see it go. The only thing Tony Hawk had in its favor was the roster of elite skaters old and new. EA's SKATE took skateboarding and pushed it in a more realistic and gratifying gameplay direction. No more 1260 Christ Air Sack Taps for me but I would like to see some of the Tony Hawk skaters end up alongside Terry Kennedy, Rob Dyrdek and the rest of the SKATE crew. Hell I'd even like to do a 900 on Danny Way's mega-ramp with Tony himself if he allowed me.

After all of the horrible Remakes of the tony hawk games I say good riddance. However it seems blizzard's multi trillion dollar income is not enough for activision to support some talent in other areas.

The Tony Hawk games, back in the day were awesome. We had never really experienced a 'good' skating game before the first and second T.H. games. The further along the series went, the more ridiculous the story got. In my opinion, Tony Hawks Underground was the last good T.H. game Activision made from the series. There were some cool features in the newer versions like the slo-mo tricks idea and the camera mode to record your tricks.

But in the end, the SKATE series was just more innovative. People were tired of the old Tony Hawk ways and I guess Activision is finally putting an axe on the series. At least for now which is a sad sight to see.

What a bummer, some of the best skating games ever came from that franchise.

really? just now?!? tony hawk underground was my favorite game before i picked up SKATE2.. and after that purchase i never looked back, there was just no competition... ACTIVISION should just close shop entirely, most of their games are just crap. especially movie based games.. and please stop the CoD... its just becoming a yearly thing with the same old story...

As long as COD makes millions during it's launch, which is no problem since with each one sales go up, it will still be around. Why kill your money maker? if you don't like the game, don't buy it or play it. No one cares what you think about the game. All i hear are people b^$#)ing over it and it's stupid as hell. Stfu already....

I'm suprised Shred sold more than Shaun White: Skateboarding. Shred required the stupid board so you'd have to at least own that board before getting the game.

I have Shaun White's Skateboarding and it's not that great of a game but I wanted it because of the landscape transformation concept and I thought that was a cool concept but the way the game handles is just not good at all. I would have liked the classic Tony Hawk type of game play in the world of Shaun White's Skateboarding. By the time the Tony HAwk games got to this gen, it was pretty much just to exploit the name only. The series jumped the shark with Underground.

the last one i played was TH2 for the PSX. loved that game. loved making my own park over and over and riding with a friend.

and i sure as hell hope that CoD goes down soon. its so sickening to see the CoD fanboys get excited every time a new one comes out and nothing has changed. in fact from what ive heard from friends, Blops sucks. i prefer Battlefield (bad company 2) at least the engines are getting better. better graphics, more destructible enviros, more weapons, tanks, helicopters, and wait for it! A MEANINGFUL SINGLE PLAYER!

I remember reading in a game magazine (GamePro, I think) about 8 years ago, the head of Activision claimed that they would never allow temselves to become "the next EA" (which was a pretty big insult back then). Turns out, EA is the company that now encourages more innovation and fun in their games than Activision does (excluding the yearly Madden games, which have really been bothering me the last few years... stupid franchise mode). Guess they should have followed EA's example after all. Games I enjoyed in the Tony Hawk series: THPS - THPS4 and Project 8 (kind of). Everything else was a total waste, in my opinion.
