According to Fox News, upcoming first-person shooter Bulletstorm is the "worst game in the world." EA, the game's publisher, has released a statement addressing their claims. Vice President of PR, Tammy Schachter, spoke with GameInformer about the issue. "As you know, Bulletstorm is a work of entertainment fiction that takes place in the 26th century on the abandoned fictitious paradise planet Stygia, where our heroes fight mutants, monsters, flesh-eating plants and gigantic dinosaurs." Keep reading to see the entire statement.
NEWS: Bulletstorm: The "Worst Video Game In The World?" Asks Fox News
"As you know, Bulletstorm is a work of entertainment fiction that takes place in the 26th century on the abandoned fictitious paradise planet Stygia, where our heroes fight mutants, monsters, flesh-eating plants and gigantic dinosaurs.
Epic, People Can Fly and EA are avid supporters of the ESA and believe in the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) rating system. We believe in and abide by the policies put in place by the ESRB.
Bulletstorm is rated M for Mature for blood and gore, intense violence, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language and use of alcohol. The game and its marketing adhere to all guidelines set forth by the ESRB; both are designed for people 17+. Never is the game marketed to children.
Epic, People Can Fly and EA support the right of artists to create works of entertainment fiction for consumers of all ages, including adults who enjoy action adventures like Bulletstorm. Much like Tarantino's Kill Bill or Rodriguez's Sin City, this game is an expression of creative entertainment for adults."

All that said, I would love to see a "Glen Beck hates Bulletstorm" ad campaign though.
SirHellsing
And once again Fox News is put into ther rightful place.

I am glad that EA has the balls and stood up to Fox NOISE like they should have done with the whole "Medal of Honor" fiasco. I am very happy fox should stick to things they know like lying about the president, let the people who know about the games (Gamers) handle this. FOX NOISE needs to S.T.F.U.

This is truly ridiculous that they attack games like this at all.It just shows that they needed something to report because if they actually cared they would have reported on Dead Space 2's Your mom will hate this. Campaign because that was geared towards children in almost every possible way.
eaglefan129
personally G4 i don't even know why you had to bring this up to us cause its not effecting any body its just a study and a WORLD news station opioion not a game news station's opioion of a game

Fox News and their ratings scams. Actually all news programs have rating scams, but Fox News is the top dogs of scams and garbage compared too all the others.
More ACTUAL news and less bull crap opinions please.
DreamingDarklyRobin
It looks like EA doesn't have to come out with a "Your Mom Hates Bulletstorm" ad.

Isn't this just viral marketing from EA for the game? How else could anyone actually have played the game which isn't even released until the 22nd? It's highly unlikey that the producers of the segment would single out this particular game, given the M rated games currently on the shelf. EA pretty much knows if they can generate any controversy for the game, it raises the awareness fo the game against it's direct competition, Killzone 3. They also know the over the top reaction and defense they will get from the gaming community. Interesting to note that it was EA's Mass Effect 2 that also magically was a subject of controversy. EA's PR is playing the gamer community like a fiddle.

Definitly a solid rebuttal by EA.

Fox news, the only news station that has ignorance with shouting and crying.

I have to wonder. Is Fox News the only one that has run a similar story on violence in video games? To me this is more of a societal phenomenon that is not secluded to just one news organization.
What I would like to see come out of this discussion is "How do we educate the rest of the population about video games, their audience, and their content?"
TheBRADLeyB
To be fair, in my opinion (and as someone who generally doesn't like monsters and aliens in my shooters) This looks like it could be the worse game ever...
But again it's not geared towards me... which is why i don't Broadcast my opinion on it on a TV Network.

You know what the say, any press is good press. I'm sure sales will be even better now that people will want to play it to just see how "awful" it really is. The development and publishing companies are probably thanking Fox right now.
Hyphnip
Oh, Fox News, thanks to you this game will sell a lot more copies. That said, I was pretty underwhelmed by this demo.
darklight003
Fox news is just pissed that their ratings are so low that they needed to find something to complain about to try and boost their ratings. Really Fox out of all the things going on in the world you have to do a story about a game that is going to be one of the best games of 2011.
GHETOyeti
suck on that fox news
Cell34
Does anyone find it weird that a cartoony over the top fairly harmless game like Bulletstorm gets attacked by critics but a game like Dante's Inferno which I thought was fun but, was actually so violent and insane that it was slightly disturbing received almost no press?
What a bunch of idiots.
NINJA CHAD
lancelot88
Wow just wow. only fox news would be stupid enough to say something like that.
Spartan593
It really isn't like this game is market towards kids. Yes it appeals to them, but so what? Dead Space 2 is probably a better game to complain about because the website is "yourmomwillhatethis.com" so they get some slack? That's incredibly dumb.
Symicide
EA shouldn't of had to reply to anything in the matter of Bulletstorm in the first place.
