Hands-On With Dragon Age 2

Much has been made about your character's rise to power in Dragon Age 2, gaining renown as his or her adventures progress. But until last week, we hadn't been able to see it first-hand. Until, of course, BioWare showed us a demo of the game in three distinct parts, mapping out examples of how our hero rose from lowly warrior to legendary hero.

"A major concern of many fans of DA: Origins is that Dragon Age 2 will fall victim to the similar streamlining Mass Effect 2 faced. While Mass Effect 2 was certainly a solid game, it did lose several of its core RPG elements. This is not the case with Dragon Age 2. BioWare has managed to to add even more RPG elements. You'll have to decide how you want to play the game, your strategy, how you want to level up your party, how you will upgrade Hawke. You will not complain about the lack of skill trees. At the same time they've made it easier to not care about skills and abilities, too. Your level of commitment depends on how you want to play. BioWare hopes having both options will be inviting to new players while satisfying RPG fans."

Raise your sword and ready your shield. It's time for our Dragon Age 2 Preview...

Nikole wrote the preview and mentioned ME2 is just "solid"? I'm surprised by that since she went gaga over the game when it came to GOTY announcements. The preview mentioned that the action is more hack-n-slash if you play as a warrior, that's a bit worrying. Still, can't wait to play it on March.

I'm glad they made it easier for me to not care. I played DA:O in a way that I would level myself up properly and just auto-level my party.

    Thanks Bioware!

@ GamebustaZX DA2 will be quite different from DA1. you are a set character so no origin stories. your character talks. and many other things, though i am in no way saying the changes are bad or good since i obviously havent played them yet.

but ya ive had DA1 for a while now, just finished my 4th playthrough after taking a long break from it. experimented with mods on this playthrough. loved it. loved the mods. i probably wont play DA1 again (might hand it off to a friend instead) just because DA2 comes out in march. looking forward to it!

dragon age 1 is amazing I got it 3 days ago and have been playing it sense I wish I picked it up later even though I have not beaten Dragon age one yet I will pick up 2 and hopefully the game lives up to the standers set by dragon age one I usually always have a complaint for a game even if its one but not for this game

Yeah link isn't working as it should. Anyways, I am really looking forward to this ocming out and prying me away from my Starcraft 2 obsession. It's bad when I'd rather watch videos on the internet of people playing that game versus actually playing another game myself. But thats Blizzard for ya.
