2K Games revealed today that it will release The Darkness II, the sequel to 2007’s comic book adaptation about a mobster imbued with demonic superpowers, this fall for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
The sequel picks up two years after the first game, and puts players back in the shoes of tortured mob boss Jackie Estacado as he fights to uncover the truth behind the mob war that has broken out around him. Award-winning comic book writer Paul Jenkins reprises his role as writer, while the previous game's developer, Starbreeze Studio, has been replaced by Digital Extremes.
Like The Darkness, gameplay will consist of a mixture of guns and tentacle-based combat (thanks to Jackie’s Demon Arms, which sprout from his body), but this time, players will be able to fire two weapons and use the Demon Arms, a feature the developers are calling Quad-Wielding.
“The Darkness II is a well of dark and imaginative violence, and it’s a stylized and beautiful nightmare,” said 2K president Christoph Hartmann. “The Darkness II continues the 2K Games tradition of delivering quality, innovative games that are filled to the brim with atmosphere and deep storytelling.”

People are you kitten me? why would you be questioning why there is a second. It left off where Jenny is telling Jacky to wake up and as soon as he does the game ends like in where it'd be asking if they were going to be making prey 2 where it ends with Tommy going through the portal at the end: and yet i see where you could be coming from where that games like Halo, and Call of Duty have been just plain dragged out with pretty much all the games besides the first just to get money out of it, but this has a foot hold to go off of and that is when games should have a sequel like in the god of war series, and Bulletstorm in which they have a real story.

I can't wait for this. I am one of the few people that loved the first game. I hope they have a couple shock moments (spoiler alert) like in the first one were you kill yourself.

really? lol. i hope its as good if not better then the first. A little less linear would be nice
but this makes me think
assassins creed 3, 3 hidden blades, where does the third one come from ;)

the first game sucked so, here's to the future low review scores and sales or hopefully cancellation of this game

I have been waiting for them to announce a sequel, I loved the first game.

Good to know their giving the series another chance. I was a big fan of the first game and was wondering when they were simply going to officially denounce a sequel. A little bummed that Starbreeze isn't in on this one, but they could do a lot worse than Digital Extremes. With them on board, theres a pretty good shot at the game featuring good multiplayer(if they even decide to put it in that is), otherwise, let's just hope they can craft a good single player experience and do the original game and team proud.

I liked The Darkness story, but the gameplay needed work. I don't mond multiplayer if it's good. What about the darklings? We better be able to conjure them up still. Hey, what if you can play as various darkling in multiplayer?

This is exciting! I will be buying this game! However without spoiling it for anyone here who wants to play #1, how is there a sequel after the ending of #1?

The first one was terrible, bad voice acting, crappy story, and barely up to par graphics. The screen shot that they're giving us of the next one looks the exact same, and it's been what three, four years since the last one? Please.

I loved the first Darkness game. I'm pretty excited for this game.

I enjoyed The Darkness...never heard of the novell/comic or whatever it was based on but the game itself was cool in that it brought some wild gameplay concepts. Never understood why it didn't sell. It has pretty much zero value on a Gamestop trade in so if you haven't played it yet, pick it up for a song. It'll definitely be worth the five bucks.

I liked the first one, but there was a lot of things that could have been better. Hopefully they fix them and this game will sell a lot better. Now I gotta go dig out my old copy and reminisce.

I think "The Darkness" is a jewel in a well so many people are blinded by COD's, Glitch of Lag's that have not rated this amazing game...yeah it's MP is a weak point, but the campaign is a master piece.
I thank 2k games for this 2nd part..."I miss you dear Jenny"..."happy birthday rat face"
"You are nothing but my puppet!"...

This is surprising. It was good game but nothing revolutionary. The story was really good and the gameplay needed some work but overall I enjoyed it. It didn't really sell though. Oh well. Hopefully they can get it to be more awesome the second time around.
