Ridge Racer Unbounded will answer the question we've all asked ourselves, "What does Reiko do on the weekends?" Namco Bandai and Bugbear have teamed up to bring gamers a more extreme, intense and explosive installment in the Ridge Racer series that promises to "to shake up the genre by breaking all the rules and plenty of cars along the way.

We don't know much about the game, but from what we can gather from the trailer, Reiko is ditching her conservative white sports car for the edgy and dangerous black sports car. This new "wild" Reiko must have a really solid car insurance plan.

Ridge Racer-style racing and handling is a now antiquated style of racer. Ridge Racer 7 proved as much. It looked pretty, (mostly) but the mechanics of the game and racing style felt SO old. If this new game in the series wants to see any kind of success, they will have to blow everything up and start from scratch with the mentality of creating a modern arcade racing game.

Yes, from this trailer, it looks like this game is going to try to borrow ideas from Criterion. (Burnout series, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit) We can only hope that they also aspire to create a game of the same caliber as Criterion. If not, then this series needs to just be put to rest -- for both it's legacy's sake and that of racing game fans everywhere.

Nice!! I have completely forgot about this series. With so many older franchises getting next gen console makeovers, it only make sense that this game get one too. From looking at the preview, I have a weird feeling this might have some burnout elements added to the game, which is exactly a bad thing.
