Steelers Win Super Bowl XLV: Madden NFL 11 Predicts The Future

Cancel your weekend plans, stop making mountains of nachos, and send back all of those uncooked pizza rolls: the Steelers will win Super Bowl XLV according to EA's Madden NFL 11. But, it'll be a close game, so maybe you won't want to take the beer off the ice and put the saran wrap back on the deli tray just yet. How accurate has the video game simulation been in the past? Well, it's been right for six out of the last seven matchups, which is a pretty impressive record.

If you're not interested in spending all day drinking and screaming at your television on Sunday, then head on below the break to find out how the game plays out. After all, computers are never wrong. Right?

Steelers 24 - Packers 20

Down 13-17 going into the fourth quarter, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers hit James Jones in the end zone to put the Pack up by three points with nine minutes left in the game.  The defense for both teams kept the score tight throughout most of the fourth quarter, with neither willing to budge.  After the two minute warning, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hit Mike Wallace on a slant, and the wide receiver’s world-class speed helped outrace the Packers defense for a 36 yard touchdown pass; giving Pittsburgh the lead with 1:20 left on the clock.

With no timeouts, Rodgers led Green Bay into Pittsburgh territory as the nail-biting contest drew to a close.  In a last second desperation attempt, Rodgers targeted receiver Jordy Nelson, but Steelers safety, Ryan Clark, picked off the pass, clinching Pittsburgh’s Super Bowl XLV victory.  Pittsburgh wide receiver Mike Wallace was named Super Bowl MVP with five catches for 111 total yards and a touchdown.

Packers will win. They destroyed Atlanta at Atlanta. No team has done that in a few years. They have gotten this far without many of their starters. They will win without full strength, like they have all season.

Packers were nearly beat by the 3rd string QB for the Bears. Green Bay will not be able to run the ball & Pittsburgh will. The Steelers D is too good to get beat by a one demential offense. Pittsburgh beat this offense without Troy playing in the defensive backfield and threw for over 500 yards on the Green Bay secondary. Let the national media keep picking the Pack. They also picked the Jets.

It's funny how when they did this for the Pats Giants Superbowl every had the Pats by lots of points. Giants ended Brady and his perfect season by 3 points. I'm going for the Packers but could care less since Pittsburgh is an overrated team with a QB who runs the ball more than throws, can't throw it long range and can get sacked so easily. Jets proved that....

People still watch this? Bah, if I'm not playing I couldn't care less. This weekend will probably consist of LBP2 for me, or something else if I finish the game midweek.

Or dealing with more snow. I swear it's like every week now.

I think there's to many factors in football for madden to call it accurately. and if you think about it, its a 50/50 chance that Madden will be right, either one team wins or the other one will.

now of course I'm a Packers fan and think the Packers can win this.

Lets see... Going into the Super Bowl showdown, the Packers are projected to win by 4 points, ESPN and the NFL network both say the Packers are going to win, and most of the sports analysts for FOX NFL Countdown are also choosing the Packers including the most important one, Jimmy Johnson, who by the way, has so far picked the Packers throughout the playoffs, and has not been wrong yet. So, the way I see it, the ones who truly believe the Steelers are going to win based solely on a Prediction by Madden '11 may want to start watching ESPN and the NFL network. The Steelers are a good team dont get me wrong, and deserve to be in the Super Bowl. It is just that the Packers are better overall.

Oh, and I also did a simulation and the packers won outright 30-17. This just goes to show you that you really cant trust a video game to predict the outcome of the Super Bowl!

    GO PACK GO!!!!
