Call of Duty: Black Ops will receive its first double XP weekend starting February 4 for all platforms, Treyarch told Microsoft's Major Nelson this weekend. Because if there's one thing Black Ops lovers need, it's an excuse to play more multiplayer.
The double XP weekend arrives just in time too, as the first downloadable map pack for Black Ops, First Strike, releases on Xbox Live tomorrow (and at a later date on PlayStation 3 and PC).

You sound as thought you honestly thought the Double XP Weekend and Map Release were a complete random act.
It's clear to me that the Double XP Weekend is a way to try and bring back people who haven't played as much lately who are still driven to climb the prestige (or if your like me the regular) ladder.
It's a good marketing ploy.
Now I doubt I will be buying the Map Pack but that's mainly because 15 Bucks is 25% of a game and I'm going to buy the following games come March 9th;
Homefront (Honestly doubt it will be a CoD Killer, but the game just looks good and the battle points system is something I think I will like. I'm going to take a chance and buy this game)
Dragon Age 2 (I just recently got into Dragon Age 2 and while I might not even open the Package till June, I've got all the DLC from the Pre-order and the Signature edition, so I have to pick that up)
I'd also like to get MLB2k11 (since it's... the only trucking game we've got on 360... God I wish Xbox had MLB The Show) but since there is no incentive to buy it right away I'll hold off on that a bit until season is started at least. I'm sure it sucks the same as every year anyway.

This might actually make me want to play CoD:BO again. Anytime I play it I get frustrated by the hit detection after about 3 games. I wished more people got addicted to Crysis 2 like I did. That online is all about tactics and when to or when not to use powers. Camping is eliminated, mostly at least, with some of the armor abilities.

Nice, the prestige stuff in the game became pretty boring so I stuck with my level 50, however I may consider it again now. Its good that they made it for all the consoles this time. So when we(PS3 users) finally get the DLC in March 360 should also have double XP for that. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

hm. i could use some double xp. would be nice if they did give you double cod points too but idk if thats gonna happen and in any case you can easily get as much as you need on wager matches

On Superbowl weekend? Now, why is that I wonder... Let me guess: Kotick wants to crow about CODBLOPs being more popular than the Superbowl? Or all of the NFL/pro football?
Maybe he gets jealous of the money they make from Superbowl commercials? I mean, the man has delusions that his company's FPS franchise is everything from Facebook to Wikipedia to Google.
So what can CODBLOPers expect in the future? In game advertising and commercials. It's BOHICA time! Bend Over Here It Comes Again!
