Handheld Atari 2600 Homebrew: Amazing!

Attack of the Show's Scott Moschella is an amazing TV producer, an amazing human, and an amazing modder of hardware. Nine years ago, Scott built the Atari 2600 console you see in the photo above based on plans from Ben Heck's website. He waited until today to show it to me. But I'm showing it to you right now.

The handheld console is powered by a 9 volt battery that runs the Atari and some double A's that run the TVs. Scott says it took him about 50 hours to make, and he learned how to solder through the project.

I've played it, and it works great! In fact, the addition of a D-pad style controller actually makes it work better than a "real" 2600: Those joysticks were horrible!
