First Call of Duty: Black Ops Nintendo DS Details Revealed

PlayStation 3 hackers, 'sploiters and other video game ne'er-do-wells who play Call of Duty: Black Ops met a nasty surprise when firmware update 3.56 was released earlier this week. A ton of people were banned.  Of course, the official message boards for the game are flooded with comments from banees, protesting their innocence, and decrying the unfair banninations that have been imposed upon them. Here's an example:

"HELLO TREYARCH I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE BANNING PEOPLE FOR HACKING BUT THERES A MISTAKE YOUR BANNING ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT HAVENT SO I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE THE BAN OFF AND LOOK CLOSELY IN TO IT AND JUST BAN THOSE ACCOUNT TRUST ME THEY WONT TRY IT AGAIN SERIOUSLY YOU TOOK IT TO FAR MY PSN IS PTO-KILLA AND IM 11TH PRESTIGE SO THATS OBVIOUSLY NOT 15TH PRESTIGE HACK SO WHY ON EARTH IS MY PS3 BANNED FROM BLACK OPPS TELL ME AND GO AND CHECK FOR YOURSELF SO BASICALLY YOUVE BANNED MY PS3 FOR PLAYING LEGIT ALL THE WAY TO 11TH PRESTIGE 7DAYS PLAYED."

Sounds legit to me!

Obviously, I can't say whether the bans were passed out fairly or unfairly, but I'm going on the assumption that all the guilty parties are guilty, and here's why: The last thing Activision wants is to ban people. The last thing any company wants is to keep customers from playing their game and essentially alienate them and assure that they won't pick up the next game. Also: Kids on the internet lie. A lot. So, I've been poring through these outraged comments all morning and laughing, thinking to myself, "cry more, noobs."

(I apologize if anyone has been unfairly banned, but hey, look at it this way: A game ban will give you extra free time to ride your bike or something.)

Hello, Treyarch. My psn is Captain_Zaraki. To my surprise on Tues morning Jan.25 (or Wed) Jan 26 I can't remember I was ban from black ops multiplayer. I was at work Mon and Tues night from 7pm-7am, my friend thought it would be a good idea to hack my black ops account. I was pissed to say the least, I really don't feel like playing anymore because of this unfair "scare" ban. I can't send you the clock in proof at my work if you need more proof. I understand your need to stop hackers, but this seem like the community scaring you into banning anybody that looks like a hacker. Please unban Captain_Zaraki. Thanks.

Maybe all the people playing FPS games should get up off their lazy butts and get outside and play paintball. #1. You'll be getting some exercise. #2. It's the closest thing to real war without being killed. #3. NO HACKERS. Get outside and play...support your local fields!

People shouldn't play crap games anyway. Hopefully this will be the hint to go play a real game, something good. Stop buying the trash Activision shovels out each year. They're like holiday decorations, they never change yet they're always full price the next season.

Hello, Treyarch. I was at work on Monday night Jan.24 from 7pm to 7am, and my friend thought it would be fun to hack my Black Ops account. To my suprise, when I turned on my game I got a connection error. I checked it out and it said I was banned. I was pissed to say the least. Can you please unban me PSN username- Captain_Zaraki. I can send you my clock in proof if that helps . This is not fair at all.

Is this a good thing? Yes. Cheaters deserve what they get.

Is it going to stop? Not bloody likely.

I got banned for having a name they didn't like. Was I happy about it, no, but I also didn't call a lawyer to fix a problem that I caused myself. Look if you hack, mod or have a bad name and they can see you when you log in. Then you shouldn't be playing anyway cause your gonna get caught.

This is something I noticed when I started playing today. I thank goodness didn't get banned and rightfully so. I'm on 5th prestige and just over 7 days played, which is way higher than some I've seen, but of course, I'm just a middle of the road player like the majority of players out there and I enjoy the game as much as anyone. What I do like with the update is the slight changes in the rules, like if you kill someone who has second chance equipped and someone else gets the kill, you get the kill for killing them in the first place, not like before where you would just get the assist. Unless of course the player was revived. This will make things a lot fairer all around and I'm glad because I kept seeing low level prestiged players with the level 15 background for their player card and getting high level killstreak perks only having a few kills(attack dogs at the very beginning of the game and the player with the most kills only had like 6 or 7, and no care packages either). Yay for Sony, now if only Treyarch would announce the release date for the new maps for us PS3 players!

I don't get why people are acting like modders don't get banned on Xbox Live or something. There's more, but honestly I've run into ZERO during my 4 days of playtime, modders on Xbox but they are definitely getting banned. Just glance at the forums for a day.
Side note: Unless you're talking about the kids that use the colored clan tag glitch, 15th prestige playercard unlock, or something similar... cuz I've definitely seen many of those... but are those really bothering anyone? IF that does bother you you need to get a life.

Great article Mr. Johnson. Far too long have people (well call them kids) been hacking and or exploiting in online games and no actions were taken place. This is a victory to all of the legit players who have busy life s and busy schedules who find time to get online and relax by fragging a few people and playing in friendly matches only to have some idiotic person (again well say kid) running under or outside a map sniping everyone or seeing someone rise up in the ranks in a matter of hours due to boosting when everyone else slowly makes their way through the levels to gain new gear and achievements. No longer can the hackers/racist/absurd people hide behind their mics and online aliases and think they are above the rules we so gladly follow and accept to be a part of an online gaming community. It's high time people(kids) learn that morality does not leave the room once you log into your gaming account, and that in order to be respected you need to behave as though as you hold respect for those around you, and those whom which share the same games as you deserve your respect as well. Maybe, just maybe this will be the nail in the coffin that sends you the message that you were wrong. And if not, I won't be seeing you online anyways because you've been banned HAH.

It's too bad you can't ban that one poster for having the longest run-on sentence and abuse of capslock instead. (I kid, I kid.)

Anyways, if you cheat then this is what you rightfully get. If you have to cheat to earn your Xth prestige then you deserve to be banned. It's not like you can use your prestige to get free french fries from McDonald's or anything.

Hmmmm they will be fine. After coming home from a hard days work and want to unwind I am welcomed with hackers plaguing my favorite game. MW2. So I welcome the banning. Less stress for me to deal with.

What kind of things were being hacked or cheated?
I haven't played BLOPS in about a week but just did my PS3 update the other night.

I hope I don't get hit for anything... I was finding BLOPS multi to be a lot easier than MW & MW2 and I have been racking in the XP... I could see them being like "KindredEX, you have been scoring >20 kills and <5 deaths in quite a few deathmatch games you have participated in for the last 72 playable hours. You have been banned for cheating due to having a ratio of 4.0!"

Good for them banning hackers but i feel sorry for the people who do get wrongfully banned because we all know that mistakes happen. It was probably a few people who got wrongfully banned and alot of liars. But at least Treyarch is trying to keep hackers away.
