The very first details about the release of the PSP follow-up, the PlayStation NGP, have traveled half-way around the world from Tokyo, straight into your brain. After weeks and months of speculation, Sony announced to a group of eager gamers that the PSPs successor, the NGP (short for "Next Generation Portable") will appear on store shelves during the holiday season of 2011.
Features will include...
- 5-inch OLED sceen
- Front and rear touchpads and cameras
- GPS functionality
- 3G speed
- Raised dual analog sticks
- SixAxis controls
- Plays NGM (or "New Game Media")
Sony is referring to the new user-interface for the NGP as LiveArea which will support the PlayStation Store, Trophies, friends, web browers, messaging and serve as a launching pad for other applications. The "Near" program will use the internal GPS to track your location and movement to provide information on what gamers are playing in your area.
Recognizable franchises heading for the new platform include LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, Hot Shots Golf and WipEout. New titles include Little Deviants, Broken, Reality Fighters and Gravity Daze.

this is what me and my friends dreamt the first psp would be like. im so excited for this, a tru next gen console in my pocket and literally take my ps3 games on the go. im just scared of the price but ive heard sony would be loosing money on each sale so maybe it will be low enough to compete with the 3DS

I already have a device that does all of this and much more. Its called an Android!!!! And its a lot less expensive. Ohh and if a wanna play an exclusive PS3 game.... I'll play it on my PS3!!!...... 3DS for me, and everyone else who already owns a PS3 and/or Andriod (unless their just dumb and/or have money like that)

Well well. lookie what we have here. All this hype for nothing. I'm just shure about the little bugger. i want backwards compatibility or at least away to convert or download the psp titles i already own. It seems like your getting a better deal with the 3ds though. I'm gonna need to see more specs, but if nintendo allows the 3ds to play movies and mp3s (and with the specs it has now it should be fully capable) then sony is might as well give up now. I'm still rooting for sony but i may go with the 3ds option if things don't look up.

Wow! Sony, all this tech has been available for years, but you make it look good! The user interface, the touch, gestures... I'm blown away! Can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy, and I know the good old PS3 has a few years left in it, but now I can't wait to see what you come up with for the PS4.
