Beyond Black Mesa is an independent short made by fans who were inspired by Valve's Half-Life video game series. The film takes place five years after the "incident" at Black Mesa. It follows Adrian Shephard and a group of resistance fighters in City 17 trying to relay a message that an invasion is coming.

Beyond Black Mesa took two years to make. Seven friends had a budget of $1,200 for the entire short. For all you film nerds it was shot on a Canon HV20. It's not based on a particular game in the Half-Life series but fans of the HL games will notice many elements that are borrowed from the universe. The most noticeable for me was the sounds effects.

when i saw the first teaser a while back, i was under the impression that they were going to have actual spoken dialog. only disappointment with me. otherwise fantastic effort. hopefully valve takes note and gives them a lil somn somn. theyre good for it.

    Hey Hollywood, Pay attention.

These guys made an awsome video (in HD, I might add) that is not only true to the source material, but looks amazing. And they did it on a budget that you guys spend on a single coffee run.

Instead of paying retards like russel and boll to make $50+ million dollar bombs, how about you look at these indie guys who are doing amazing sh.t on shoestring budgets and over the counter editing programs.
Oh, and to russel... Wahlburg had his shot. It was called max payne. And it bombed.
