Crappy movies will soon get ready to take cover, because the nominations for this year's RAZZIES are in! The Hollywood awards season is already in high gear, and despite a recent attempt by Ricky Gervais, no one manages to put the industry in its place quite like The Golden Raspberry Awards. The 31st annual event, traditionally held the night before the Academy Awards, has released its list of victims for the February 26 ceremony of celluloid ignominy. Don't think that big box-office numbers will save a film from the shame, leading the pack this year for Worst Picture, is none other than latest entry in the tween-tingling, supernatural romance-fest Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Joining it, will be director M. Night Shyamalan's already-legendary epic failure The Last Airbender, yawn-inducing Jennifer Aniston/Gerard Butler romcom The Bounty Hunter, likely franchise-killer Sex & the City 2, and an obligatory nod to the latest vapid "genre parody" movie in the Twilight-esque Vampires Suck!. There seem to be no big surprises here, except for the fact that, after some odd comments she made last year about their profession, the wrath of screenwriter community is likely still being reaped for starlet Jessica Alba. She stands nominated this year for FOUR films in the "Worst Supporting Actress" category for The Killer Inside Me, Little Fockers, Machete, and Valentine's Day. That being said, the forces of vindictiveness may not necessarily have had to work real hard to make that happen with that list of appearances.
Also noteworthy, is the new category "Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-use of 3-D." The RAZZIE folks are clearly tapping into the defining "new," post-Avatar gimmick of the 2010 movie-going experience, which was an up-charge in ticket prices to see films in 3D. (Some of which, were actually in 3D.) Appropriately-nominated, was Clash of the Titans, which in itself was an "okay," though unmemorable film. The Greek myth remake has already become a leading punchline regarding the topic of the poorly-transferred, pseudo-3D experience.
Finally, the one habitual victim of the RAZZIES who can rest easy this year, is Uwe Boll. The 2009 "Worst Career Achievement" winner (which I guess is the RAZZIE equivalent of the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award), is not -- I repeat NOT nominated for anything. /shock
What's your assessment of this year's nominees?

Twilight saga is like what Justin Beiber did to the music industry and that is completely suck in every way possible in it's field only to have millions of tweens flock to it like it was a hurt puppy even though it has rabies. That's why we should do our duty and take these things out to pasture and put them down.

The third Twilight movie was actually really good. It did well at the box office and it got a lot of good responses from the critics and from the people who saw the movie. And I'm sure that I am like the only person who actually saw it and would admit that it was good. So Twilight did not deserve a Razzie nomination. Everything else there did suck tho and did deserve a Razzie nomination

i agree with all of these contenders but i actually liked robert patterson in remember me, was a much better movie then twilight
cwbys21
Two things:
1) The Twilight movies may suck, but that chick is hot
2) I thought Vampires Suck was actually kind of funny. I have never read the books or watched the movies but I thought it was pretty damned funny from the little I know about them.
bdude36
Billy Ray Cyrus was in Spy Next Door?
drh1975
I have a new category suggestion: Lifetime Achievement In Bad Acting. The first recipient should be Ashton (Mr. Demi Moore) Kutcher. Or Keanu Reeves.
Wildcard273
Notice how a vast majority of these movies are "chick flicks"? I'm just saying...
firecloud42
Its hard to pick for they all SUCK...

So this isn't the "2010" Razzies, it's February 2010-January 2011 Razzies? That sucks, because I'll bet No Strings Attached gets forgotten next year. Black Swan cannot redeem you, Natalie.

M. Night in my opinion should never get to write scripts. He just steadily declines as a director and honestly how can you butcher something that bad without trying to. Effects don't make a good movie but unfortunately they can fool a bunch of people to go see it.
akumasaint
The Boil not on the list. World is a ending huh?
game_icon831
I am super angry that M. Night screwed up Avatar like he did. I was so amped to see it cause it looked amazing on the commercials...but when I found out they didnt even get character's name's right, I didnt even go see it.
eatramen101
there's a crap load more out there besides that. yeah m night guy ruined that movie, but the movie wasn't bad over all. waste of money to buy/ see in 3d but it was a decent movie. just went at it the wrong way
Bittles
The Last Airbender should win every category it was nominated for. When you mispronounce the names of the characters you fail.
Arktek
I agree with the Jessica Alba/Expendables nominations being kinda crappy, the rest of the nominations I can agree with.
On a side note, for the "Worst Screenplay" section, listing Michael Dante DiMartino and Brian Konietzko as part of "The Last Airbender" is a bit unfair considering their TV series was great and they had almost nothing to do with the movie....
TKEmysterio
Yeah, I thought the Stallone nomination was kind of lame. The whole point of the movie was tongue in cheek throwback 80s action. No more, no less. It's not like they were remaking Citizen Kane there. Seems like a stupid nomination.
And I also liked The Killer Inside Me and thought Alba was good in that. And I thought she was decent in Machette as well. Someone's got a bug up their butt about her.
Canid117
I cant tell if I want Twilight or Sex and the City 2 to win more razzies.
mrnyo
how can Stallone be in the "worst director" category for The Expendables!? that was one of the most b@da$$ movies of last year!!
it was a tribute to the 80's action/explosion/war genre >___<</safety_wrapper >
axlslave
I agree. I thought the Killer Inside Me was great. Although you could've replaced her with any attractive girl and that movie would have still been good. Casey Affleck is who made that movie shine. It's nice to see that Twilight is getting recognized for the crap that it is.
