Rockstar Game's open-world detective simulator L.A. Noire goes on sale on May 17, 2011 in North America, and May 20, 2011 in Europe. Would -be detectives will be able to play the game on the 360 or PS3.

Jake "gumshoe" Gaskill and I have been totally jazzed about this game since it was announced -- it combines two of my very favorite things on earth: Rockstar Games' open-world gaming perfection and the setting of noir Los Angeles of the 1940s. When you add in the game's lofty ambitions when it comes to character and story as well as the dazzling visuals on display in the trailer, and you end up with what could be an amazing title...
...and could be a total failure. That's the thing about trying something new and different. The further you get from what's always been done before in gaming, the more chance there is of heroic missteps.

I swear this game has better graphics than real life. And by the looks of this then i can't wait to see what GTA V will look like!

I am completely losing my mind about this game, however I just hope they give it a distinctly different feel from other Rockstar titles. While Red Dead Redemption set itself apart in many ways (setting, aesthetic, story) from the GTA series, little things like the on screen map, mission destinations and load screens before every mission made it feel all to familiar.
Here's to hopping this game plays like an amalgamation of Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain and a pinch of Grand Theft Auto/Red Dead. I should probably start to temper my expectations now.

Not sure how I feel about this game yet. They had some articles in XBOX Magazine & Game Informer early on in 2010. I'm very impressed with what they are trying to do. But it just seems like they announced it to the public and it's almost time for it to be out. Is it me, because that seems awfully fast? Maybe I'm missing something here?

Am I wrong in thinking that this game looks like Heavy Rain meets GTA IV? If that's the feel, then I couldn't be more excited. I loved Heavy Rain (it and LBP are the only reasons I still have a PS3) and can't wait for them to make another one. This could well fill the void in my life. Preordering it today!

Im kind of glad they're going out on a limb here and trying something new thats never really been done before. This is how we get great new games, but instead developers just make sequel after sequel of the same garbage(call of duty, mario, guitar hero, etc.)

This title appears to be the "Game For Grownups" that has the potential to refresh and in ways re-define what an open worl game can be. Am I excited? Oh yes....yes I am.

I thought I read somewhere this game was not open world????? I'm concerned about the side jobs/missions and how they might distract gamers from what appears to be a very interesting story. I'm also not looking forward to driving through some huge city in a beater from the 40's, only to die and have to do travel some great distance to my objective again like with every Rockstar game.
