Justin Bieber Vs. Nintendo: Ninty Nixes Bieber Tune

Justin Bieber

We're super big fans of pop star Justin Bieber -- I'm sure you are too -- but Nintendo, apparently, is not. Bieber's people recently asked Nintendo for permission to use a bit of the iconic Super Mario Brothers theme in an upcoming Bieber-riffic Bieber-fest of a 3D concert movie and lifestyle documentary called Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. (I'm expecting a generation-defining film like The Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter.) Nintendo said some variation of, "Nope. Sorry, Biebs."

John Chu, director of Don't Look Back... er, I mean Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, tweeted the following recently:

"aw C'mon Nintendo! Y won't u let us use the Mario theme for 15 secs in the @Justinbieber movie...talk about free advertising passed up. Oops"

Y indeed?

Nintendo, who has licensed its name and characters to any number of products (including, as Joystiq points out, shampoo, pinatas, slippers and Captain Lou Albano) has yet to publicly respond to this story, but one thing is for sure, this is the most important thing that has ever happened in all of human history.

Also: I like to think that Justin Bieber has enough fans that simply posting his name in our website will result in a flood of traffic from pre-teen girls. Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber. (Crap! I think I inadvertently summoned Bieber, like Candyman. A wild Bieber appears!)

the most disturbing part of this is in the first sentence.....

"We're super big fans of pop star Justin Bieber -- I'm sure you are too -- but Nintendo, apparently, is not."

Thank God that Nintendo didnt sell out to this little fa**ot, it would have caused a giant Hate storm from the gamers and brainless fan girls of beiber. I cant help but remember when a old man shot his tv with a shotgun when he saw bristle palin move on to the final round of dancing with the stars. All of us gamers would do the same thing if Nintendo sold out to the bastard.

I'm sure a game that was made 25 years ago ( one of the most popular games of all time I might add) needs advertisement. I think Nintendo just doesn't want to be associated with Justin Bieber. They would probably draw a lot of criticism if they had allowed it.

Woohoo! good job nintendo! but the only real thing that intrigues me is that they said his movie is gonna be a documentary. I thought it was gonna be a gay romance film!

Big Props to Nintendo for holding their ground. Though software and hardware sales may be down, though they do not have great internet and social networking capabilities like xbox, at least Nintendo can say that they have their pride. It would have been a major diappointment like Sega with its Sonic The Hedgehog Syndrome. The Bieber Syndrome is very plague like. Dont let this epidemic get to you or you will become an ELLEN DEGENERES LOOKING JOLLY RANCHER.

    lol advertising?

Nintendo is selling more copies of their Mario games than Bieber selling his pathetic albums.

Nintendo: "OMG JB wants to use our Mario theme :D <3"
"Imma go call JB" *starts dialing number*
"But wait.......a lot of our fans hate JB.......hmmmmmm.....what to do?"

Nintendo. They really love their fans. :)
