At last week's THQ Gamer's Day event, we had the chance to go hands-on once again with Homefront, a game we've played before in the past. This time, however, we were able to play around with a handful of brand new features, including the Battle Commander, that got us as excited as ever.
"Of course, we’ve seen all this before in our in-depth Homefront multiplayer coverage, but new to this particular go-around with the title was the innovative Battle Commander system. Members of each team will receive orders from their unit’s A.I.-controlled Battle Commander to complete specific challenges for additional bonuses. For example, you may be given orders to take out a specific target, or hold a particular portion of the field for a given amount of time. As you execute these mini-missions throughout the overall deathmatch, consequently rising through the ranks to become an incredibly effective five-star soldier, the opponent’s Commander may order them to find and kill you."
Suit up, give us your best cry of "Wolverines!" and check out our Homefront Multiplayer Preview.

Lucidity, getting involved is investing in them. They wanted to help promote and do deals with the Homefront developers. Later it say, "Sony really didn't come to us and say, 'We want to support you and get behind you.'" Basically Microsoft did do this by supporting them (or investing in them). Microsoft didn't go up to the developers and say, hey we want to help you make the game. They said, hey we want to help you sell the game by incorporating your game in Microsoft commercials and things like that. They wanted to make a deal with the developers while Sony did't want to get involved with the game.

I wasn't too sure about this game initially, but hearing the devs talk has increased my interest. I didn't realize it was coming out so soon, but I think it'll be the next FPS I pick up. I passed on Medal of Honor & Black Ops because there didn't seen to be anything new there.

"It's really just about them coming to us and saying they want to get involved," senior level designer Rex Dickson explained during THQ's Gamer's Week in New York City last Friday."

Just to be clear lucidity, when they say "showed great support" it means that Microsoft went up to the developers and offered support in the case of money. This "support" has been happening for a long time which is why there are exclusives and time delayed DLC. Both Sony and Microsoft do this in order to get gamers to buy their consoles. It is interesting that Sony didn't make an effort for Homefront, but they probably feel that there are better games to invest in. I'm not saying that there are better games than Homefront, because I have never played the game, but Sony is probably investing their money in different developers or companies.

Interesting to see how the console makers differ in supporting developers.
"Developer Kaos Studios has told Eurogamer that the deal to bring all Homefront DLC to Xbox 360 first only came about because Microsoft showed great support for the game while Sony stood mute. "
